AI + Sports Boosts Domestic Technology Exports

As the most influential sporting event in the world today, the quadrennial Summer Olympics always create countless exciting moments and popular topics. The 2024 Paris Olympics is no exception, with discussions surrounding the organizers, events, and athletes continuing from the preparation stage through the opening ceremony and the various competitions.

During this Paris Olympics, many domestic enterprises have been involved in everything from event facilities to supporting equipment, including event marketing, cultural and creative products, and souvenir merchandise.

For example, Hals (002615.SZ), specializing in cups and kettles, disclosed in its financial report that its SIGG brand will supply customized water bottles for the 2024 Paris Olympics. Absen (300389.SZ) is providing high-quality LED screens and service guarantees for the Games, with over 50 of its screens being used in various venues. Ankai bus (000868.SZ)'s world's first fully electric double-decker sightseeing bus has arrived in France and will officially enter service at the opening of the Paris Olympics.

A-share Listed Companies Make Their Mark at the Paris Olympics

Generally speaking, the preparation, venue construction, and logistical support for Olympic events often have high standards, testing the strength of suppliers and service providers.

During the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics two years ago, over 50 A-share companies participated in various support services, primarily involving venue construction, transportation facilities, technical support, sponsorship and supply services, and licensed merchandise sales.

Although the Paris Olympics is not held locally, A-share listed companies have still managed to bring their products and services across the ocean. Shengma Finance notes that among the top partners of the Paris Olympic Organizing Committee, there are Chinese enterprises such as Alibaba and Mengniu.

In addition to the aforementioned Hals , Absen , and Ankai bus , A-share listed companies include Yili, the official dairy partner of the Chinese sports delegation at the 2024 Olympics; JOEONE, the official dress supplier to the Chinese sports delegation, providing the new "Dream Chaser" series; CIMC, providing efficient and environmentally friendly logistics solutions during the Olympics; and Zhouming Technology (300232.SZ), supplying over 2,600 square meters of LED screens and supporting solutions for the main venue, Stade de France, and other smart venues, as well as the Seine riverside fan zone for the opening ceremony.

Furthermore, as the official fitness equipment supplier to the Chinese Olympic Committee and the Chinese sports delegation at the 2024 Olympics, Shuhua Sports arrived in Paris earlier with several high-quality technological products on July 18; and Yuanlongyatu, specializing in creative gift design, previously disclosed that it is designing and producing Olympic-themed gifts for some Paris Olympics sponsors and partners.

In fact, domestic enterprises have not only showcased their products related to food, clothing, housing, and transportation at the Paris Olympics, but the AI empowerment brought about by China's technological progress is also evident everywhere.

Shengma Finance notes that on July 31, the Chinese pair of Chen Yuxi and Quan Hongchan won the gold medal in the women's synchronized 10m platform diving event at the Paris Olympics with an absolute lead of 43.2 points over the second place. The Chinese team has now won all three diving gold medals decided so far at the Paris Olympics.

Behind the athletes' outstanding performances, Alibaba Cloud handled more than two-thirds of the Olympic broadcast signals and generated real-time high-degree-of-freedom replay footage, SenseTime's "Ririxin" helped the Chinese national basketball team analyze athlete status and basketball trajectories during training, and Baidu's AI-assisted training system aided the national diving team's training.

A research report from Shanxi Securities shows that functions such as real-time animation generation of historical figures during the opening ceremony, robot dog venue inspections, AI network public opinion monitoring, digital twin venue crowd control, and AI TV broadcast summaries will also play a crucial role during this Olympics.

It's worth noting that AI big models were still an unfamiliar term during the previous Olympics. In fact, AI applications empowered by big models are visibly playing a magical role in sports events. Behind this is a microcosm of how AI big models and other technologies are infiltrating all aspects of human life in various ways.

Thomas Bach, President of the International Olympic Committee, stated that AI provides athletes with personalized training methods and better sports equipment, significantly improving the organizational efficiency of sports events, changing the way sports are broadcast, and making the viewing experience more personalized and immersive.

As such, the Shanxi Securities research report proposes that behind the various AI applications empowered by big models at the Paris Olympics is a rapid growth in computing power demand. Therefore, domestic listed companies such as optical module, copper connectivity, and domestic computing power industry chain enterprises may also usher in a new wave of development opportunities following the Paris Olympics.
