On September 15, the delivery ceremony for BRT pure electric mining trucks and the signing ceremony for autonomous driving cooperation were held at Chaonaoliang Coal Mine in Ordos, Inner Mongolia. A fleet of 45 BRT pure electric mining trucks made a collective appearance and were delivered on-site. Meanwhile, BRT and Chaonaoliang Coal Mine officially inked an autonomous driving cooperation agreement, expanding their collaboration from the electrification of mine transportation to the realm of unmanned and intelligent operations.
Among the 45 pure electric mining trucks delivered this time, some have already been operational at Chaonaoliang Coal Mine for several months. Following a period of real-world production operation, these vehicles underwent rigorous testing under mining conditions characterized by heavy-load transportation, complex road conditions, and continuous operations. The stable performance of the initial batch of vehicles provided the mine with a direct understanding of the reliability, power performance, energy replenishment efficiency, and operational value of pure electric mining trucks in coal mine transportation scenarios, laying a solid operational foundation for this significant delivery.
Chaonaoliang Coal Mine is an open-pit mine that employs a single-bucket-truck intermittent mining process. Its production capacity was increased from 4 million tons/year to 8 million tons/year in May 2022. In recent years, the mine has been actively promoting the green transformation of its production equipment, with a focus on reducing energy consumption, enhancing transportation efficiency, and improving the mine's production environment. In July 2024, Chaonaoliang Coal Mine successfully passed the intelligent verification conducted by the Energy Bureau of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region and was recognized as a "Medium-Level Intelligent Demonstration Coal Mine." At that time, its intelligent construction was technically supported by Sany Intelligent Mining, with a total of 40 unmanned wide-body vehicles deployed, enabling 7×24-hour continuous formation operations. The introduction of BRT pure electric mining trucks and the signing of the autonomous driving cooperation agreement signify another leap forward in the mine's intelligent construction.
On the day of the signing, a special exchange session titled "Frontier Trends" was also held. Representatives from Chaonaoliang Coal Mine, BRT, and industry partners engaged in in-depth discussions on the electrification of coal mine transportation, autonomous driving, and the future development trajectory of intelligent mines. From the on-site practices, it is clear that Chaonaoliang Coal Mine is following a well-defined upgrade path: first, promoting green transportation through the adoption of new energy equipment and verifying its economic viability and reliability in actual production; subsequently, introducing autonomous driving and intelligent scheduling capabilities to further enhance safety levels, transportation efficiency, and production organization capabilities.
Established in 2016 and listed on the Main Board of the Hong Kong Stock Exchange in May 2025, BRT has emerged as one of the leading enterprises in China's domestic new energy wide-body dump truck market. In 2024, BRT ranked third among all new energy wide-body dump truck manufacturers in China in terms of shipment volume, boasting a market share of 18.3%. In the electric wide-body dump truck segment with battery capacities exceeding 650 kWh, BRT secured the top spot for three consecutive years from 2022 to 2024. The company's product line encompasses various technical routes, including pure electric, extended-range, and autonomous driving models. Notably, the BRT105E pure electric mining truck is equipped with a 724 kWh lithium iron phosphate battery pack, has a rated load capacity of 63 tons, and can achieve a heavy-load range of 180 kilometers. In November 2025, BRT unveiled the industry's first native unmanned new energy mining truck, the 9M145E, featuring a cab-less design, a load capacity of 145 tons, and an end-to-end intelligent driving model.
In the realm of autonomous driving technology, BRT introduced an intelligent driving model tailored for mining scenarios in June 2026, proposing a systematic strategic framework of "computing power and electricity dual-drive." Its intelligent driving system can achieve operational efficiency comparable to 95% to 100% of manual driving during the initial implementation of autonomous driving. As the model continues to evolve, the number of daily manual takeovers and interventions can be kept below 5 times, resulting in actual labor savings exceeding 90%. Leveraging its technological expertise in new energy mining trucks, drive-by-wire chassis, vehicle control, and autonomous driving, BRT will collaborate with Chaonaoliang Coal Mine to implement capabilities such as autonomous vehicle operation, intelligent scheduling, fleet coordination, and safety management in real mining scenarios.
However, it is important to note that Chaonaoliang Coal Mine had previously deployed Sany Intelligent Mining's autonomous driving system and achieved normalized operations. The compatibility and synergy of the two systems introduced this time, as well as whether the actual operational efficiency of the new equipment can meet expectations, still require validation through subsequent real operational data. For mine autonomous driving to truly integrate into the production system, vehicles, roads, loading/unloading points, scheduling systems, and safety systems must achieve seamless coordination and undergo continuous testing under complex operating conditions to ensure operational efficiency and production stability.
