Rumors of "Layoffs" and "Termination of Job Offers to New Graduates" Are Spreading
On June 12, an email titled "GAC AION Campus Recruitment Termination Notice" circulated on the internet.
The email stated that on June 11, AION sent notices to some of the signed new graduates, informing them that due to the adjustment of the recruitment policy for new graduates, the tripartite agreements/bilateral agreements already signed would be terminated, and a penalty of 5,000 yuan would be paid to those terminated.
The "layoff" rumors of GAC AION have been brewing for a long time, with traces to follow:
In July last year, GAC Toyota dismissed 1,000 contract workers, accounting for 5% of the total workforce.
In December last year, 900 contract workers at GAC Honda had their contracts expire without renewal.
In May this year, 1,700 people at GAC Honda agreed to leave, accounting for 14% of the total number.
Subsequently, in June, Zeng Qinghong, the chairman of GAC Group, said that GAC had laid off many employees, and that it was not a solution for the automotive industry to "roll" down... publicly acknowledging layoffs.
Recently, on June 7, the media exposed a series of "shrinking plans" of AION, reflecting the company's possible financial pressure.
As can be seen from the above, this plan incorporates the essence of "reducing costs and increasing efficiency" in the market: canceling overtime pay for all employees, reducing transportation subsidies, halving the number of security personnel, stopping social recruitment, terminating 20% of campus recruitment offers, stopping all promotion assessments, controlling charging power, etc.
A self-proclaimed "insider" revealed that overtime subsidies account for a significant proportion of wages, and some employees of GAC AION have now reduced their subsidies, resulting in a decrease in their take-home pay of at least 10% compared to before. Whether other subsidies will be canceled remains to be seen.
GAC AION is not the first new energy automaker to breach job offers to new graduates, nor is it the first to lay off employees. Among rumors and doubts, negative news has spread.
辟谣:不实!已报警
辟谣:Not true! Already reported to the police
GAC AION could not sit still. On the evening of June 12, GAC AION clarified the false rumors on Weibo, stating that it had already reported to the police and would pursue legal responsibility against the rumor mongers in accordance with the law.
《严正声明》
Serious Statement
Recently, some untrue information and malicious rumors about GAC AION's "layoffs" and "intensive termination of job offers to new graduates" have appeared on online platforms, causing market misunderstandings, affecting the company's reputation, and infringing on the company's legitimate rights and interests. On June 12, 2024, our company has officially reported to the public security organ and will pursue legal responsibility against the rumor mongers in accordance with the law.
GAC AION stated that as of this year, the company has recruited 118 new graduates, and only 8 of them are facing job adjustments due to changes in job demands (precise! A small number cannot be called "intensive termination of offers"). For these affected graduates, the company will provide corresponding economic compensation to them based on the agreements signed by both parties.
To enhance market confidence, GAC AION stated that it will successively launch new products under the AION and Hyper brands this year, and that its factories in Thailand and Changsha will be completed and put into production in July.
In addition, GAC AION revealed that it plans to expand its recruitment by over 2,000 people in the second half of the year, expanding its global layout.
The Situation Is Not Optimistic
GAC AION is currently facing a series of realistic difficulties.
The "star of the group" GAC AION has experienced a year-on-year decline in sales for four consecutive months. It will be difficult to achieve the targets promised to investors in the next few months. This also casts a shadow over GAC AION's IPO, which raised
