According to media reports on June 25th, Apple has ultimately decided to refuse AI cooperation with Meta, the parent company of Facebook, due to privacy policy considerations.
It is understood that Meta and Apple initially explored potential cooperation opportunities in March this year, but unfortunately, the two sides failed to make new progress on the details of the cooperation.
After evaluation, Apple believes that Meta's practices in privacy protection have not met its strict standards, so it does not intend to integrate Meta's large language model (LLM) into the iOS system.
Notably, Apple has instead chosen to establish a cooperation relationship with Meta's competitor, OpenAI, and plans to integrate ChatGPT into the upcoming iOS 18, iPadOS 18, and macOS Sequoia.
This move provides users with more options, allowing Siri to handle more complex requests and achieve a higher level of intelligent interaction through ChatGPT.
Meanwhile, Apple's cooperation in the field of artificial intelligence has not stopped. Their cooperation with Google continues to deepen, and they plan to integrate Gemini into their operating systems to bring users a richer intelligent experience.
In addition, Apple is also maintaining active discussions with other industry-leading institutions such as AI company Anthropic to explore more possibilities.
Media outlets have revealed that Apple is exploring closer cooperation with its long-term search partner Google. In different regions around the world, including China, Apple is also actively seeking cooperation opportunities with other AI companies to promote continuous innovation and development of its AI technology.
