Apple's promises are once again falling short!
Although Apple announced a series of Apple Intelligence-related features at the 2024 WWDC Developer Conference, most of them were nothing extraordinary, but they still gave Apple users something to look forward to.
Apple originally announced at the conference that AI features would be available in the fall, but according to Bloomberg reporter Mark Gurman, some of these features will not be available until 2025. For example, Siri's ability to understand device content, semantic indexing, allowing AI to control devices, and screen sensing features will not be ready in time for the fall release. So, Apple has delayed!
It is clear that while Apple showed off its capabilities at WWDC, these capabilities are currently not up to the test, likely due to a hasty response to avoid losing a significant portion of the market if they did not enter the AI field.
Does anyone remember these scenes when Apple TV was announced?
Some netizens said, "In the past, the features released at WWDC were already developed and tested for bugs before releasing a beta version. But now, they release it first even though 'nothing has been done yet.' So, the promise of a fall release at the conference was just a half-baked version, and the rest will have to wait until next year. This is exactly the same tactic used by many game companies when releasing new games."
Unlike the accusations and criticisms from netizens, Mark Gurman's view is quite lenient, believing that Apple is not in a hurry to launch AI products but rather prefers to invest time and effort in perfecting functions for languages other than "American English." After all, Apple Intelligence needs to be applicable to countries around the world, and at the very least, it needs to match the functions of the languages spoken by a large population in the world, which is no small task.
Despite the delay in the launch of some major features, Mark Gurman still expressed anticipation for the new features in the fall, such as the redesigned Siri interface and Siri's improved semantic understanding (even if there are errors in speech, it can still understand the meaning). These are all good upgrades.
