According to Fast Technology on August 22, Samsung Electronics' sales in the Chinese market doubled in the first half of 2024, reaching 32.3 trillion Korean won, an increase of approximately 181% compared to 17.8 trillion Korean won in the same period last year.
It is reported that this growth is mainly attributed to the strong performance of the semiconductor business, with contributions also coming from products such as smartphones and home appliances.
SK Hynix also recorded significant growth, with sales reaching 8.6 trillion Korean won, more than doubling.
Its DRAM factory in Wuxi, packaging factory in Chongqing, and NAND factory in Dalian all contributed to this growth.
Analysts believe that China's economic support policies and the surge in demand for AI semiconductor HBM are the main drivers behind the growth in sales of Korean semiconductor companies in China.
Currently, there are only three semiconductor manufacturing companies in the world capable of producing HBM: SK Hynix, Samsung Electronics, and Micron Technology.
Furthermore, with the increasing demand for server and corporate computer replacements in China, as well as the launch of new AI-equipped computers, sales have been further boosted.
Samsung Electronics' sales in China have even surpassed those during the so-called semiconductor supercycle periods in 2022 and 2021.
