As the September Apple Fall Event approaches, new leaks about the iPhone 16 series have emerged once again.

According to foreign media reports, Apple will hold a press conference on September 10th to announce the iPhone 16 series, which is expected to go on sale on September 20th.

Apple plans to introduce the iPhone 16 series, a new generation of Apple Watch, and updated AirPods.

Firstly, Apple has not officially announced the date of the September event. However, media reports claim to have obtained this information from internal sources, predicting that Apple will send out media invitations as early as next week. This timing aligns with Apple's previous fall event schedules.

Foreign media also reports that Apple plans to release Macs with the M4 processor, though these may not be unveiled until later in the fall.

Recently, insiders have revealed that Apple has begun training its retail store employees on Apple Intelligence (AI), intending to highlight this feature during the iPhone 16 sales pitch.

The insider previously disclosed that Apple's AI functionality would be delayed until October, accompanying iOS 18.1, meaning that the September-released iPhone 16 will not ship with AI pre-installed.

Apple and developers require sufficient testing time to optimize AI, hence iOS 18's official September release will not include this feature.

Even after AI's October launch, users will not have access to all its functions. For instance, Siri's full smart experience will not be available until the first half of 2025.

Notably, introducing Apple AI to the Chinese mainland market poses challenges due to policy requirements necessitating partnerships with local suppliers.

In a previous earnings call, Tim Cook mentioned engaging with regulators to expedite AI service rollout in Europe and China.

Some analysts predict that AI could boost iPhone 16 sales by up to 10 million units, explaining Apple's plan to market these features in-store.

Apple anticipates orders for over 90.1 million iPhone 16 units in 2024, potentially exceeding 100 million. Among these, 59.8 million are projected for the Pro and Pro Max models, accounting for 66%-70% of total sales. The standard iPhone 16 version will also account for a significant portion, while the 16 Plus has been discontinued.

Furthermore, insiders reveal that the iPhone 16 Pro will feature a 6.3-inch screen with a 120Hz refresh rate, crafted from titanium, equipped with the A18 Pro chip, supporting Apple Intelligence's edge AI capabilities, a new 48MP ultra-wide camera, a periscope telephoto lens offering 5x optical zoom, and a 3355mAh battery. Pricing starts at $1099 with storage options of 256GB/512GB/1TB.

The iPhone 16 Pro Max expands the screen to 6.9 inches, shares similar specifications with the Pro model, but boasts a larger 4676mAh battery, starting at $1179 with 256GB/512GB/1TB storage options.

The same source also exposed the camera specifications for the iPhone 16 series:

The iPhone 16 series cameras see minimal changes in the standard versions, with upgrades limited to the ultra-wide aperture. The Pro models, however, receive significant upgrades, including a 5x telephoto lens, upgraded 48MP ultra-wide camera, and support for the new JPEG-XL format.

iPhone 16 / 16 Plus: Features a 48MP primary camera with f/1.6 aperture, supporting 2x optical zoom quality, 12MP ultra-wide camera with f/2.2 aperture, micro mode, JPEG-XL format, and a new capacitive shutter button.

iPhone 16 Pro / 16 Pro Max: Equipped with a 48MP primary camera (f/1.78 aperture), supporting 2x optical zoom quality (12MP, 1.22μm), 12MP 5x telephoto lens (f/2.8 aperture), 48MP ultra-wide camera (0.7μm, pixel binning to 1.4μm), ProRaw capture, JPEG-XL format, capacitive shutter button, and 120fps 3K Dolby Vision video recording.

Additionally, Apple introduces the new 'JPEG-XL' image format and includes a capacitive shutter button as standard on all four models launching this year.

Notably, the iPhone 16 series introduces the 'Capture Button,' supporting multi-touch and pressure sensing for functions like tap-to-focus, press-to-shoot, and swipe-to-zoom. Rumors also suggest this button will toggle between photo and video modes.

Beyond these improvements, the iPhone 16 series boasts upgrades in storage and network connectivity. The iPhone 16 Pro series starts with 256GB of storage, maintaining a similar price point to its predecessors, a significant upgrade considering the 128GB starting storage of the iPhone 15 Pro series may now seem inadequate, especially amidst growing demands for high performance and capacity.

Furthermore, the iPhone 16 series supports the latest Wi-Fi standards, ensuring faster and more stable connectivity, a boon for daily use, online entertainment, and remote work.

Intriguingly, the upcoming iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max promise not only performance enhancements but also design surprises. Leaked images confirm the color of the camera lens ring and reveal a new 'Desert Titanium' color option.

This 'Desert Titanium' hue leans towards a muted gold, exuding a more subdued and profound elegance compared to the iPhone 14 Pro's Deep Purple. This new color signifies Apple's daring foray into color design, offering consumers more diversity and personalization.

It's worth noting that this year's Space Black boasts a deeper shade, while Space Gray exhibits a richer gray tone, enriching Apple's product palette and visual experience. Earlier rumors suggested a color closer to Rose Gold, but recent leaks consistently point toward a bronze hue, casting doubt on the accuracy of earlier speculations.

Remarkably, the camera lens ring leak seemingly confirms rumors that the iPhone 16 Pro will revive the polished design reminiscent of the iPhone X to iPhone 14 Pro, reigniting anticipation for the new iPhone.

In summary, the upcoming iPhone 16 series represents a comprehensive upgrade across design, chip performance, imaging capabilities, battery life, and charging technology. From the push towards a portless design to the powerful A18 Pro chip and larger battery with faster charging, the iPhone 16 series sets a new standard in every aspect.
