It's time for the monthly report again. Let's see how the car enterprises have performed in terms of sales.
Let's start with the new forces in the industry.
01
NIO
NIO is currently enjoying a robust sales momentum, delivering 20,176 new vehicles in August, exceeding 20,000 for the fourth consecutive month.
From January to August this year, NIO has delivered a total of 128,100 new vehicles. If this momentum can be maintained, the annual delivery volume may exceed 200,000, which would be a remarkable achievement for NIO.
Earlier this year, NIO refreshed its entire product line and is now focusing more on software upgrades to unleash the full potential of its hardware capabilities.
A few days ago (August 28), NIO fully rolled out its "Banyan Rong Rong 3.0.0" intelligent system, which includes functional optimizations and updates in various aspects such as AI chassis, smart cockpit, driver-vehicle interconnection, and intelligent driving.
Currently, the momentum is quite strong, and the next step will be to see if the second brand, Ledao, can emerge successfully.
02
XPeng
In August, XPeng delivered a total of 14,036 new vehicles, which is indeed a remarkable achievement for the company.
Fortunately, with the arrival of MONA 03, the burden on other models has been slightly reduced.
MONA 03 received over 30,000 bookings within 48 hours of its launch, and the order volume should still be growing. Initially, the delivery time was within 1-3 weeks after the launch, but it has now been extended to 5-7 weeks.
XPeng has finally embraced its new hit model, which will significantly contribute to the company's upcoming performance.
As for the XPeng P7+ equipped with pure vision autonomous driving technology, considering its launch in the fourth quarter, its contribution to XPeng's sales may be limited. However, XPeng's pure vision autonomous driving solution is still highly anticipated.
03
Lixiang One
Lixiang One delivered 48,122 vehicles in August, a remarkable achievement that has maintained its position as the sales champion among China's new energy vehicle brands.
A noteworthy figure is that in the new energy vehicle market with a price range above 200,000 yuan, Lixiang One accounted for 18% of the market share in July (with 51,000 deliveries), which is a very impressive performance.
For the third quarter, Lixiang One expects to deliver between 145,000 and 155,000 vehicles, which translates to a delivery volume of over 45,000 vehicles in September.
Lixiang One's annual delivery target for this year is 500,000 vehicles. From January to August 2024, it has delivered a total of 288,103 vehicles.
Based on the current delivery pace, Lixiang One is expected to set new delivery records in the upcoming fourth quarter.
04
Leapmotor
Leapmotor's sales are steadily climbing.
Following two consecutive months of sales exceeding 20,000 in June and July, Leapmotor set a new record in August with 30,305 deliveries.
Among them, the SUV family of Leapmotor accounted for over 72% of deliveries, with Leapmotor C16 delivering over 8,000 vehicles.
C16 represents Leapmotor's category innovation, with over 10,000 bookings in its first month. It remains to be seen how well it will perform in the long run.
On August 15, Leapmotor released its financial report for the first half of 2024. With the strong sales of its vehicles, Leapmotor's gross margin has improved, cash flow is abundant, and its international expansion efforts are progressing smoothly, indicating an overall positive development trend.
In the fourth quarter, Leapmotor will unveil its first product, the B10, from its new platform at the Paris Motor Show. Targeting young consumers worldwide, this model is expected to become Leapmotor's next hit.
05
Nezha
Nezha delivered a total of 11,005 vehicles in August across its entire product line.
Although Nezha currently has a diverse range of models, including the Nezha S Shooting Brake, the mid-size SUV Nezha L, the compact SUV New Nezha X, the coupe Nezha S, the electric sports car Nezha GT, and the Nezha AYA, it lacks a major hit model.
Moreover, it is worth noting that some of the over 10,000 sales in August may have come from overseas markets.
To put it bluntly, in today's fiercely competitive market, standing still is essentially falling behind. Especially when the sales of the top four players are all on the rise...
Therefore, Nezha is under considerable pressure at the moment.
Enough said, let's cheer for Nezha!
06
Xiaomi
There's not much to say about Xiaomi's delivery volume – it continues to exceed 10,000 vehicles.
This trend is expected to continue for the next four months.
As mentioned earlier, Xiaomi expects to achieve its annual delivery target of 100,000 vehicles ahead of schedule in November.
As for why Xiaomi does not disclose specific figures, I suspect that Xiaomi is accumulating fragments of its 120,000 delivery target and plans to achieve it in one fell swoop in December.
Moreover, despite having a large backlog of orders and a delivery timeline of at least 19 weeks, Xiaomi demonstrates strong crisis and order awareness. I personally receive test drive invitations from Xiaomi Automotive sales representatives every few days.
Other car enterprises should learn from Xiaomi's sense of crisis and order management.
07
Jiyue
Jiyue delivered 2,117 vehicles in August.
While this number may seem insignificant compared to the others, it is a remarkable achievement for Jiyue (formerly Jidu), considering the challenges it has faced.
In fact, before changing its name from Jidu to Jiyue, the company halted all promotional activities, which limited its exposure. I was invited to see the actual vehicle and gather some information during that period, but official promotion was not allowed at the time.
Now that sales are picking up, it has been a tough journey for Jiyue CEO Xia Yiping, who reportedly shed tears during a media interview a few days ago, expressing the hardships of vehicle manufacturing.
For Jiyue, it is a good thing to gain more exposure and orders.
In addition to the Jiyue 01, Jiyue's second new product, the C-segment pure electric sedan Jiyue 07, is also on the horizon. Its arrival will further boost Jiyue's sales growth.
The new car will be officially launched on September 10, and we believe it will not disappoint.
