Huawei Mate XT's unexpected competitor has arrived, and the rival company has also made a triple-folding screen phone!

In three days, Huawei and Apple will have an important "collision." The products of the two sides are the triple-folding screen phone Mate XT Ultimate Master Edition and the iPhone 16 series. Currently, Huawei has conducted multiple rounds of warm-ups, and the news that everyone should know has been revealed. Based on some previous statements by Yu Chengdong, rival companies cannot produce the same product at least in the short term. However, Zhao Ming, CEO of Honor, has a bit of a "dismantling" attitude. He recently stated that Honor has no technical issues in making a triple-folding screen phone, but whether to launch it depends on market demand. Unexpectedly, in addition to Honor, another mobile phone manufacturer has also expressed a clearer attitude.

That manufacturer is TECNO. Although it may not be well-known domestically, TECNO is truly the "number one in Africa" and has achieved relatively good results among domestic mobile phone manufacturers going abroad. However, TECNO's products launched in Africa are mainly low-cost phones. To truly compete with international giants, it is necessary to take the high-end route, and TECNO obviously has the strength to do so.

Recently, at the IFA 2024 conference held in Berlin, Germany, a reporter interviewed TECNO staff, who stated that they would officially unveil the Phantom Ultimate 2 triple-folding screen phone at the MWC2025 conference in March next year. TECNO is currently the second company, after Huawei, to have plans to launch a triple-folding screen phone, and it has a more comprehensive product promotion video than Huawei's Mate XT.

It can be seen that the Phantom Ultimate 2 unfolds into three screens that can display three different contents. However, from another image, it can also be seen that the entire device is relatively thick, with a thickness of 11mm when folded. In particular, there is a noticeable protrusion at the main camera, while Huawei's Mate XT has a flat back. In this regard, Huawei demonstrates stronger product design capabilities, and TECNO's Phantom Ultimate 2 is likely to require a special protective case.

However, the promotional video also shows that the Phantom Ultimate 2 has a rich range of usage scenarios and multiple folding methods, which aligns with recent statements made by several Huawei Mate XT endorsers in their promotional videos. However, the content presented is even richer, with operating modes similar to a tablet paired with a keyboard and the ability to use a stylus for other operations. Some may argue that the Phantom Ultimate 2 is still in the concept phone promotion phase, while the Mate XT will be released in a few days, and the influence of the two products on the entire industry cannot be compared.

There is some truth to this statement. Huawei's Mate XT is indeed a pioneer, but the Phantom Ultimate 2 also exists, albeit later. According to TECNO staff, if it is only shown to the public in March next year, it is expected to be released around mid-year, which means there will be a difference of about 10 months between the two launches.

As for the price, it is rumored that the Phantom Ultimate 2 may cost close to 20,000 yuan, likely more expensive than Huawei's Mate XT. I wonder how many of you here are interested.
