Samsung is expected to release its new flagship series, the Samsung S25 series, in January next year, still comprising three models: S25, S25+, and S25 Ultra. As the release date approaches, some information about this new device has gradually spread online.
First, with the stunning debut of the Xiaomi 15 series, the Snapdragon 8 Gen2 flagship market has welcomed a new wave of enthusiasm. Amidst this competition, the upcoming release of the Samsung Galaxy S25 series has garnered widespread attention from the industry.
Recently, it was revealed that the top-of-the-line model in the Samsung Galaxy S25 series, the Galaxy S25 Ultra, has left an impressive mark on the GeekBench benchmarking platform. It is reported that this new device, model number "SM-S938U," is the upcoming flagship we will soon meet.
In the benchmarking test, the Galaxy S25 Ultra achieved remarkable scores thanks to the powerful performance of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen2 flagship platform. Its single-core score reached 3148 points, and its multi-core score reached 10236 points, demonstrating exceptional performance capabilities.
It's also worth noting that the Samsung S25 Ultra achieved even better scores in earlier benchmark tests: 3069 points for single-core and 9080 points for multi-core. This suggests possible improvements in heat dissipation or performance optimization.
It is reported that Samsung originally planned to use the Exynos 2500 chip for testing and production of the S25 series and decided to adopt the Snapdragon 8 Gen2 for mass production. The Exynos 2500 may be targeted at specific markets for promotion.
Additionally, the Samsung S25 Ultra retains the 12GB memory configuration since the S22 Ultra and may adopt a flat glass front and back cover design. Its borders are narrower, supporting 2K resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate, and it is equipped with Gorilla Glass protection. Overall, this phone is similar to the S24 Ultra but more refined.
Worth mentioning is that a source has revealed renderings of third-party silicone phone cases for the three Samsung Galaxy S25 models: Galaxy S25, Galaxy S25+, and Galaxy S25 Ultra.
According to the exposed phone case renderings, the Galaxy S25 and S25+ differ in size, featuring vertical camera cutouts with LED flash holes.
The S25 Ultra, on the other hand, adopts a design similar to the Note series with rounded corners and a more square shape. The S25 Ultra is equipped with a P-shaped cutout to accommodate the layout of four sensors, along with an LED flash and a ToF sensor.
The left side of the phone remains blank, while the right side features volume adjustment keys and a power button. The bottom area includes a primary microphone, a USB Type-C port, and speaker grilles. The S25 Ultra version also comes with an S Pen slot.
Incidentally, it was recently revealed that the starting memory for the standard version of the Galaxy S25 has been confirmed as 8GB. This choice is reportedly influenced by DRAM (Dynamic Random Access Memory) yield issues. Although some markets may offer a 12GB starting version, the basic model will primarily come with 8GB.
For the higher-end market, the Galaxy S25+ and Galaxy S25 Ultra models will start with 12GB of memory. In particular, the 1TB version of the Galaxy S25 Ultra will be further upgraded to 16GB of memory to meet high-performance demands.
Lastly, what's even more exciting is the significant camera upgrade on the Galaxy S25 Ultra. It is expected to come with a 200-megapixel main camera, a 50-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera, two 50-megapixel telephoto cameras, and a 12-megapixel front camera.
Furthermore, the device will come pre-installed with the One UI 7.1 system based on Android 15 and will provide up to seven years of Android system updates.
Beyond hardware specifications, the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra also boasts several anticipated features. For instance, its sleek body design and excellent hand feel will provide users with a brand-new experience. With flagship-level configuration and outstanding performance, it is bound to become a favored product among consumers.
Regarding the release date, the Samsung Galaxy S24 series was released on January 17, 2024. It is expected that the Galaxy S25 series will be released as early as the week of January 13 (Mingmei Wuxian note: the week after CES ends). If not, it may not be available until early February.
Lastly, Mingmei Wuxian has noticed that overseas media have reported that Samsung plans to launch a Galaxy S Slim in the second quarter of 2025. Unlike the existing three Galaxy S series models, the Galaxy S Slim emphasizes the phone's slim design.
It's worth noting that Samsung's biggest competitor, Apple, also plans to introduce an ultra-slim model in the iPhone 17 series, which may ultimately be named iPhone 17 Air or iPhone 17 Slim. Apple may introduce the latest A19 series chip, TDDI (Touch and Display Driver Integration) new display technology, and a newly customized camera sensor on the iPhone 17 Air. Some speculate that the iPhone 17 Air may have a higher price than the iPhone 17 Pro Max.
Overall, the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra is a highly anticipated flagship phone. It not only excels in design but also boasts powerful hardware specifications and upgraded system support. For consumers seeking high-quality phones, this new product is undoubtedly a noteworthy choice.
