Realme has consistently demonstrated its prowess in delivering unexpected surprises, living up to its motto "Dare to Leapfrog." Following the successful establishment of the Realme GT5 Pro and GT7 Pro in the high-end market with their exceptional value for money, the Realme Neo series swiftly introduced the Neo7, a model prioritizing endurance and performance.
So, how effectively does the Realme Neo7 optimize the Dimensity 9300+, and can it fully capitalize on the advantages of its 7000mAh battery?
Design:
The Realme Neo7 retains its distinctive design. Our review unit boasts a striking Submarine Blue color scheme, with both the body and frame adorned in indigo blue, making it a real eye-catcher.
The lines on the phone's back are prominent, offering varied textures visually, yet maintaining a consistent and smooth tactile feel.
The camera module is rectangular with an additional cut on the lower right corner, lending it a distinctive and personalized appearance. Interestingly, this cut allows my index finger to rest comfortably on the chamfered edge while holding the phone, providing a stable support point for horizontal gaming.
Despite housing a 7000mAh battery, the phone maintains a slim 8.56mm thickness, with minimal camera protrusion, enhancing stability when typing on a flat surface.
The frame of the Realme Neo7 matches the back cover in color, with chamfered edges for a seamless transition, ensuring a comfortable grip.
The phone's front features a 1.5K resolution 8T LTPO screen supporting 1-120Hz variable refresh rates. The minimal black border around the screen is evident in photos and performs admirably for its price range.
The screen boasts a peak brightness of 6000 nits, a global excitation brightness of 1600 nits, and a maximum manual brightness of 1000 nits. In settings, you can enable an increased brightness range for enhanced outdoor visibility.
For eye protection, the Neo7 offers full-brightness single-pulse dimming with reduced flicker, making it more eye-friendly and energy-efficient. It also supports low-brightness high-frequency PWM dimming, allowing users to choose based on their needs.
Powerful Performance, Robust Cooling
The Realme Neo7 is powered by the Dimensity 9300+ processor, marking Realme's first use of a MediaTek processor in the Neo series. How well has Realme tuned the Dimensity 9300+, and is its performance robust enough?
In benchmark tests, the Realme Neo7 scored 2,344,081 on AnTuTu, 2,251 on Geekbench 6 (single-core), 7,415 (multi-core), and 5,354 on 3DMark Wild Life Extreme. These scores indicate Realme's effective optimization of the Dimensity 9300+. But how does it perform in actual gameplay?
In "Honor of Kings" with maximum graphics settings, the average frame rate reached 120.2 fps with an average power consumption of 3.27W.
During our previous Realme GT7 Pro review, we were impressed by the AI Master Assistant feature for "Honor of Kings," offering practical suggestions and reminders. Now, this feature has been enhanced to remind players of summoner spell cooldowns, making it easy to track ability readiness.
With HDR high graphics and game frame rate stabilization enabled in "Genshin Impact," the game ran at 813P resolution with an average frame rate of 59.5 fps over 30 minutes, consuming 4.3W on average. Despite minor frame rate fluctuations, gameplay remained smooth without noticeable stutters.
In addition to the 7000mAh battery, the Realme Neo7 features a 7,700mm² ultra-wide single-body VC for heat dissipation. How effective is this 7,700mm² VC cooling?
After playing "Genshin Impact" for half an hour, the phone's highest temperature measured by an infrared thermometer was around 37°C. There were no noticeable hot spots, and heat distribution was quite even.
We also conducted a 45-minute stress test using AnTuTu, known for its demanding cooling requirements. Many phones fail this test due to overheating. However, the Realme Neo7 not only completed the test but maintained consistent performance throughout, showcasing full power output.
The highest recorded temperature during the test was also around 37°C, making the phone only slightly warm to the touch.
The built-in 7,700mm² ultra-large VC cooling system in the Realme Neo7 ensures sustained and stable high-performance output from the Dimensity 9300+, allowing users to enjoy smooth performance without overheating concerns.
7000mAh Ultra-Large Battery, Unbelievable Endurance
Realme often surprises with its charging and battery technology. The Realme GT Neo5 previously set benchmarks with its 240W fast charging. Now, the Neo7 packs a 7000mAh battery into an 8.5mm-thick body with increased battery energy density of 800Wh/L, virtually eliminating battery anxiety.
While a 6000mAh battery supports a full day's use, it doesn't offer the freedom to use the phone extensively, like playing multiple "Honor of Kings" games without battery life concerns.
With the Neo7's 7000mAh battery, I can use the phone more freely. In our tests, watching 1080P videos on Bilibili with comments enabled consumed only 5% battery per hour, "Honor of Kings" consumed 6% in half an hour, and "Genshin Impact" consumed 8% in the same period. The 7000mAh battery truly delivers.
To enhance battery health, the Realme Neo7 uses high-performance electrolyte and high-transparency electrodes, reducing lithium-ion loss. Realme claims that after 1,800 cycles, the battery health can still exceed 80%, and offers a 4-year battery protection service for first-sale customers.
In addition to the 7000mAh battery, the Realme Neo7 supports 80W fast charging, a common specification in mid-to-high-end flagship phones this year. Starting from 1% charge, it reaches 30% in 10 minutes, 47% in 20 minutes, and 64% in 30 minutes. Charging slows slightly towards the end, fully charging the phone in about an hour.
Considering the 7000mAh capacity and fast charging speed even at low battery levels, the Neo7's charging performance is impressive.
While other phone manufacturers hesitate to implement large batteries, the Neo7 with its 7000mAh battery truly embodies Realme's slogan "Dare to Leapfrog." For those seeking long battery life and the freedom to go all day without a power bank, the Neo7 is currently the best choice.
Other Features:
With the Dimensity 9300+ processor and 7000mAh battery, the Realme Neo7 impresses with its performance and endurance. In other aspects, the Neo7 strives to address shortcomings, offering a comprehensive user experience.
In terms of camera performance, the Neo7 features a dual-camera setup with a 50-megapixel IMX882 sensor as the main camera and an 8-megapixel ultra-wide-angle lens.
While the Neo7 doesn't excel in photography, it meets daily shooting needs, offering decent 2x zoom quality from the main camera. Additionally, the Neo7 supports Live Photo and can share these photos on platforms like Weibo and Xiaohongshu.
The Neo7 excels in dust and water resistance, supporting both IP68 and IP69 protection levels, allowing for greater peace of mind in harsh environments. Additionally, it is equipped with an X-axis linear motor, significantly enhancing the keyboard input method's vibration feedback experience.
In terms of the system, the Neo7 runs on realme UI 6.0, introducing interesting and practical features like fluid cloud notifications, file transfers with iPhones (including photos), and useful functions like AI Eraser 2.0 and AI Motion Blur Removal.
realme Neo7: Unmatched Battery Life
In the two to three thousand yuan market range, performance and battery life have always been manufacturers' core focuses. While previous models in this price range performed well, none significantly outperformed the others.
The launch of the Realme Neo7 has now broken this stalemate. With a large 7000mAh battery offering significantly better endurance and the Dimensity 9300+ maintaining high performance levels, this product strategy ensures that consumers prioritizing battery life cannot ignore the Neo7.
