As Samsung's pinnacle straight-plate model, the launch of the new Galaxy S series has been rescheduled to the dawn of each year. With anticipation building, the Galaxy S25 series is poised to make its grand debut on January 22, and details about its offerings have begun to trickle out.

Samsung Galaxy S25 Series Preview

Samsung has officially announced that the global unveiling event for the Galaxy series will take place at 2:00 AM Beijing time on January 23.

Notably, the official teaser poster reveals the product lineup for this event: a total of four new smartphones.

Three of these are confirmed to be the Galaxy S25, Galaxy S25+, and Galaxy S25 Ultra, while the fourth is speculated to be the recently rumored Galaxy S25 Slim.

According to reports, the Galaxy S25 Slim is designed with a focus on a sleek and lightweight body, boasting a thickness of approximately 6.5mm, making it the thinnest flagship in the S series' history.

However, many of the Galaxy S25 Slim's specifications remain shrouded in mystery at this time.

It is reported that the Galaxy S25 Slim measures in at 6.x millimeters, definitively under 7mm, delivering exceptional visual appeal. The phone's screen size is expected to be 6.66 inches, significantly larger than the standard S25 model.

Regarding the screen, only the Ultra version of the new series is equipped with second-generation Corning Gorilla Glass Victus+ anti-reflective glass, which Corning touts as the toughest, most scratch-resistant, and advanced optical performance product in the Gorilla Glass series to date.

Furthermore, the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra sports a 6.86-inch flat AMOLED display with narrower bezels, supporting 2K resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. It also features Gorilla Glass protection and excels in dust and waterproof performance.

If all goes as planned, the Samsung Galaxy S25 series will be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Supreme Edition mobile platform, custom-tailored for the Galaxy series and offering enhanced performance compared to the standard version. Based on leaked benchmark scores, the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra achieved a score of 2863 on GeekBench for single-core performance and 9391 for multi-core performance, aligning with the chip's expected capabilities.

Moreover, the S25 Ultra will offer up to 16GB+1TB of storage space, catering to users who demand robust multitasking and complex application support.

One of the most significant changes in the Galaxy S25 series compared to its predecessor is the elimination of 8GB RAM. The entire series starts with 12GB of RAM and offers up to 16GB, marking a notable milestone in the history of the Samsung Galaxy S series.

Samsung's decision to upgrade to larger memory capacities this time is primarily driven by the memory demands of AI large models. Currently, mobile phones heavily rely on edge-side AI large models, where memory capacity and bandwidth can significantly impact model performance and efficiency.

The camera system is another standout feature of the S25 Ultra. It is anticipated to continue using a 12-megapixel front camera, while the rear camera setup will include a 200-megapixel main camera, a 50-megapixel periscope telephoto lens, and a 50-megapixel ultra-wide-angle lens with autofocus and macro capabilities, collectively resulting in a substantial boost in overall imaging performance.

The imaging quality of the Samsung Galaxy S25 and S25 Plus will not see significant improvements, continuing to use a combination of a 50-megapixel main camera, a 12-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera, and a 10-megapixel 3X telephoto lens, accompanied by a 12-megapixel front camera. The S25 Slim, on the other hand, is expected to feature the same 200-megapixel main camera as the Ultra model.

Additionally, it appears that the Samsung Galaxy S25 series will upgrade the capabilities of the AI assistant Bixby, further enhancing features such as circle selection search and image generation.

Samsung Galaxy S25 Series Upgrades

Finally, according to the latest information from foreign media, which aligns with previous reports, the prices of the new Samsung Galaxy S25 series in South Korea will increase. Foreign media revealed that the depreciation of the Korean won against the US dollar has led to an increase in the cost of imported components, subsequently pushing up the price of the Galaxy S25. An industry insider explained that since the average selling price in overseas markets is lower than in South Korea, Samsung must adjust domestic prices to mitigate the pressure of rising costs amidst exchange rate fluctuations. Notably, beyond the South Korean market, price hikes have become a common theme among flagship phones, particularly Android flagships equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Supreme Edition platform, suggesting that the Galaxy S25 series is likely to experience price increases in other markets as well.

The ultimate Android flagship is upon us. Based on the current information, the S25 series promises various upgrades. The enhancements in RAM and storage indicate that Samsung is deeply exploring the realm of mobile AI large models. To witness how Samsung specifically integrates AI large models into its mobile phone system, we eagerly await the launch event.
