According to Huawei's official announcement on October 7, Fast Technology reported that HarmonyOS NEXT will officially open its public beta testing tomorrow.

The first batch will be compatible with Mate 60/X5 series phones and MatePad Pro 13.2-inch series tablets, which were the first models to initiate beta recruitment.

Users with relevant models can apply for upgrades through the "My Huawei" app - "Upgrade and Try".

Unfortunately, the latest flagship Pura 70 series is not included in the first batch. Based on the previous beta testing pace, it should be adapted and launched in the second batch.

HarmonyOS NEXT is also known as Pure HarmonyOS, a fully self-developed system foundation that abandons traditional AOSP code and only supports HarmonyOS kernel and applications. It is a Chinese-originated, autonomous, and controllable operating system.

Adopting a new self-developed StarShield security architecture, relying on hardware and software coordination capabilities and the HarmonyOS kernel, it constructs a new security system and order to further enhance system security.

Most mainstream applications have completed the development of native HarmonyOS applications, including Baidu, Bilibili, DingTalk, Eastmoney, JD.com, Kingsoft Office, Kuaishou, Meituan, Alipay, Shenkaihong, Tencent, NetEase, Weibo, etc.

Currently, the public beta upgrade of HarmonyOS NEXT will not significantly affect daily use.

Regarding concerns about WeChat compatibility, Tencent Customer Service has previously revealed that the adaptation work for the HarmonyOS NEXT version of WeChat is progressing smoothly and is currently under development.

Although a specific launch date has not been announced, it is reassuring to know that WeChat will eventually be compatible with Pure HarmonyOS; it's just a matter of time, and it may not be available at the first public beta testing stage.
