Those waiting for the new Model Y can give up hope; they won't be available this year.

Musk has confirmed that Tesla's Model Y will not be redesigned this year, implying that the current model can be bought with confidence, and there should be no changes this year. If you want to buy the new model, you'll have to wait for the redesign at some point next year. The spy photos from the German factory released some time ago will not be seen this year, and the changes may include a large screen similar to the Model 3, as well as design changes to the front and rear.

This decision not to redesign, in my opinion, may have two implications. The first is to strengthen consumers' confidence in buying the current model, knowing that it won't become outdated right after purchase and that there's no need to wait for the new model. The second implication is that the current Model Y's sales are still good, so there's no urgency to redesign, and it can continue to be sold for some time. However, in the future, to prepare for the new model and increase sales, it may continue to reduce prices within this year.

So, how much can the non-redesigned Model Y still reduce its price?

Is there room for price reduction on the technical level of LOOKAR?

Tesla's current Model Y models on sale total three, covering a price range of 249,900 yuan, 290,900 yuan, and 354,900 yuan. The most likely candidates for price reductions are still the 249,900 yuan and 290,900 yuan rear-wheel-drive and long-range all-wheel-drive versions, which are also reasonable options for price reductions.

In the domestic market, many similar models targeting Model Y will be launched, including products like the Leadway L60 that have 800V and battery swap advantages, and their pricing is likely to be around 20,000 yuan cheaper than Tesla's Model Y. Therefore, from a market perspective, if Tesla wants to continue selling the current Model Y, unless they are very confident in their product, a price reduction will be an inevitable move.

Regarding Model Y, it currently uses all of Tesla's most cost-effective technologies. Apart from the 4680 battery that has been promoted for over two years but has not been implemented, technologies like the one-piece casting of the three-section chassis, the use of heat-free aluminum alloy materials, and the CTC integrated battery structure design have all been applied.

On the technical level, Tesla has not had any significant technological upgrades in Model Y in recent years.

Currently, the only factors that can bring cost advantages to Tesla's Model Y are one-piece casting technology and battery costs. Other factors like new materials and motor winding patterns provide very limited cost reduction capabilities, and there won't be too significant changes in the final vehicle prices.

Let's start with one-piece casting, which is a long-term technology. The more a model is produced, the
