WeChat official account of the State Security Department posted an article at 10:03 on October 16th, stating that the State Security Agency found that a foreign enterprise, Company A, in cooperation with Company B, a Chinese company with surveying and mapping qualifications, used the cover of conducting research on intelligent driving of automobiles to illegally carry out geographic information surveying and mapping activities in China.
Company A is a contractor for key sensitive projects in a certain country. According to the provisions of the Surveying and Mapping Law of the People's Republic of China, it does not have the qualifications to independently carry out geographic information surveying and mapping activities in China. In order to evade the supervision of China's industry regulatory authorities, the company outsourced the project multiple times under the pretext of automobile intelligent driving research and finally entrusted domestic Company B, which has surveying and mapping qualifications, to implement it specifically.
Driven by the temptation of economic interests, Company B completely became a puppet of Company A, and its surveying and mapping qualifications played a cover role for Company A to illegally obtain surveying and mapping data in China. Finally, under the manipulation and instruction of Company A, Company B transferred the surveyed data out of the country.
As soon as the news came out, who Company A and Company B were became a matter of great concern and speculation. Subsequently, Geely Holding Group, Tesla, NavInfo, and the overseas autonomous driving company Mobileye responded urgently late at night, with Mobileye issuing a statement in the early morning of today (October 17th). All four companies emphasized compliance in their operations and denied involvement in illegal surveying and mapping.
At 21:22 on October 16th, Yang Xueliang, Senior Vice President of Geely Holding Group, responded on his Weibo account, "It has nothing to do with Zeekr, nor was it done by Zeekr's partners. Rumors stop with the wise."
At 22:18 on October 16th, Tao Lin, Vice President of Tesla's External Affairs, tweeted, "Compliance is the bottom line of business operations! Tesla always believes that compliance is the key to sustainable development in intelligence. Our goal is to provide consumers with safe and reliable products and excellent and stable services."
At 23:01 on October 16th, NavInfo officially stated on its Weibo account that it has always adhered to the principle of legal and compliant business operations, firmly opposed all online rumors that tarnish and defame the company's reputation, and would take necessary legal measures to defend itself.
At 01:07 on October 17th, Mobileye responded on Weibo, "We have continued to invest in data security and legal compliance. In relevant countries and regions, including China, we operate fully in accordance with the law under the supervision of partners with relevant qualifications. We strictly abide by all relevant laws and regulations to ensure that our operations meet the highest standards of security and compliance."
