Recently, the India Mobile Congress 2026 (IMC 2026) was held with great fanfare in New Delhi. Jio Platforms, a subsidiary of Reliance Industries—India’s foremost technology conglomerate—officially unveiled a series of personal AI wearable devices. Among these, the Jio AI Smart Glasses stole the limelight at the exhibition, thanks to their localized and highly practical features. They introduce an innovative voice-controlled UPI QR code payment system tailored for India, offering Indians a fresh digital experience in their daily lives.

It is reported that the Jio AI Glasses harness Jio’s well-established 5G network and AI technology ecosystem, concentrating on everyday use scenarios for the general public. They eliminate cumbersome operations and prioritize lightweight, all-scenario intelligent assistance services. The products on display come in two versions: one with a camera and another audio-only model. Both are paired with complementary smart earphones to create a comprehensive personal AI wearable system.
The glasses’ standout feature is their phone-free voice UPI payment capability, which drastically simplifies the offline payment process. Users no longer need to retrieve their phones; instead, the glasses’ camera automatically recognizes the merchant’s UPI QR code, and payment is initiated through voice commands. A simple confirmation finalizes the transaction.
This functionality is built upon India’s UPI Circle mechanism, with a single payment limit of 5,000 rupees and a monthly payment limit of 15,000 rupees. These limits comply with official UPI regulations, rather than being set by the company, ensuring both convenience and financial security for users.
Beyond the core payment feature, the Jio AI Glasses boast multiple localized and practical AI functions. They are deeply adapted to India’s multilingual landscape, supporting real-time multilingual conversation translation. This effectively breaks down language barriers in daily communication, travel, and the workplace. The device also includes an AI voice assistant and an intelligent meeting minutes function, which can be activated via voice commands to manage various digital services. It automatically captures key information during meetings and conversations, enabling hands-free recording and significantly boosting daily office and life efficiency.

Moreover, the product offers real-time cricket match commentary, catering to the entertainment preferences of the Indian public. Users can stay informed about match developments while multitasking, eliminating the need for frequent phone checks.
According to Jio officials, the primary goal of these AI wearable devices is to leverage AI technology to streamline daily tasks and enhance life and work efficiency. By focusing on localized and practical scenarios, they enable intelligent AI services to transcend single interaction modes and seamlessly integrate into people’s daily lives, further propelling India’s digital inclusion initiatives.
