On March 20, the press conference for the China (Shanghai) International Display Industry Summit Forum and International (Shanghai) Display Technology and Application Innovation Exhibition (DIC 2025), hosted by the China Optoelectronics Industry Association Liquid Crystal Display Branch (CODA), was held at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel in Shenzhen. Attendees included representatives from the organizers, partners, participating companies, and numerous media outlets.
According to CODA data, the global new display industry is estimated to exceed US$200 billion in value by 2024, with China accounting for nearly half at US$100 billion. China's global market share of display devices stands at 55%, marking a significant shift from being a "scale leader" to a "technology leader." Furthermore, the burgeoning AI sector presents new opportunities for continuous growth within the new display industry. With advancements in AI technology, display technology is poised for a new wave of upgrades, spanning AI chip design, image processing optimization, and the application of large models and generative AI. The deep integration of display technology and AI heralds an era of unprecedented intelligence.
Against this backdrop, DIC 2025 is themed "AI·Display, Writing a New Chapter" and comprises three major sections: DIC FORUM, the China (Shanghai) International Display Industry Summit Forum; DIC EXPO, the International (Shanghai) Display Technology and Application Innovation Exhibition; and DIC AWARD, the International Display Technology Innovation Award.
DIC FORUM, co-hosted by CODA and Nikkei BP, will take place at Kerry Hotel Pudong in Shanghai on August 6-7. Meanwhile, DIC EXPO, organized by Reech Exhibition with support from CODA, the China Electronics Chamber of Commerce, the China Electronics Materials Industry Association, the Korea Display Industry Association, and Nikkei BP, will be held at the Shanghai New International Expo Center from August 7-9. The DIC AWARD presentation ceremony will coincide with the exhibition.
Liang Xinqing, Executive Vice President and Secretary-General of CODA, unveiled the DIC 2025 annual strategic plan. He emphasized that with industrial policy support, global market demand, and collaboration among international peers and Chinese display industry professionals, China has emerged as a leading player in major panel production capacity. As we enter 2025, the display industry stands at a new juncture. Chinese display professionals are well-positioned to contribute to the global advancement of the new display industry, addressing both industry trends and challenges.
Liang further elaborated that the DIC series serves as both a technology showcase and a collaborative innovation hub for the global industrial chain. Themed "AI·Display, Writing a New Chapter," DIC 2025 capitalizes on the convergence of display and AI technologies, guiding the industry from "scale competition" to "intelligent innovation." This year presents both opportunities and challenges for the display industry, and DIC 2025 aims to harness the momentum of AI, bringing together display professionals in Shanghai in August to explore AI-display integration opportunities and foster sustainable industry development.
Hu Chunming, Executive Deputy Secretary-General of CODA, responded to reporters' queries, stating that this year's DIC EXPO is expected to attract over 500 exhibitors, covering an area of over 50,000 square meters and welcoming over 30,000 professional visitors. Exhibitors and visitors from more than 40 countries and regions will benefit from exhibition, business matchmaking, and learning opportunities on the DIC EXPO 2025 platform. Attendance at DIC FORUM 2025 and concurrent professional forums is projected to exceed 5,000, marking a year-on-year increase of over 15%, with over 70% of attendees comprising corporate executives, R&D personnel, and supply chain professionals.
The application process for the DIC AWARD 2025 International Display Technology Innovation Award will commence in early April, with Gold and Silver Awards to be bestowed upon products in the categories of devices, applications, materials, and equipment. Display industry enterprises worldwide are encouraged to apply and compete for these prestigious awards based on their innovation and excellence.
Yi Yang, General Manager of Nikkei BP China, noted in his speech that as Japan's leading professional publisher, Nikkei BP has long partnered with CODA to host DIC, valuing its international vision and inclusive innovation spirit. DIC FORUM 2025 will continue to invite display enterprises and top AI industry experts and scholars, along with representatives from dozens of renowned companies. For instance, renowned Japanese AI expert Shinobu Tomura will deliver a keynote speech, jointly exploring the synergistic development of AI and display technologies.
Geng Yi, Deputy Secretary-General of the China OLED Industry Alliance, detailed the planning for concurrent forum activities at DIC 2025 on behalf of the partners. DIC 2025 will collaborate with leading domestic and international industry enterprises, renowned consulting firms, professional institutions, and other partners to host a series of forums, including the 5th International Mini/Micro LED Supply Chain Innovation and Development Summit, the 11th China OLED Industry Development Forum, and the 4th Innovative Display "Industry Refinement" Seminar, among others.
At the press conference, representatives from participating companies such as TCL Huaxing Optoelectronics Technology Co., Ltd., BOE Technology Group Co., Ltd., Visionox Technology Co., Ltd., Tianma Microelectronics Co., Ltd., Merck Liquid Crystal and Patterning Materials China, Huaxing Source Chuang (Shenzhen) Technology Co., Ltd., Jiangsu Sticker New Material Technology Co., Ltd., and Shenzhen Inovance Technology Co., Ltd. answered questions from reporters regarding DIC 2025 and related corporate matters.
From its inception in Beijing in 2010 to its current status as a global industry event in Shanghai, DIC has witnessed China's display industry's transformation from "follower" to "leader" over 15 years. DIC 2025 will leverage the momentum of AI to create a global ecological platform integrating "government, industry, academia, research, and application." We cordially invite display industry enterprises, research institutions, and media from around the world to converge in Shanghai from August 6-9 to explore the boundless possibilities of AI and display integration.
