Are you looking forward to BYD launching electric motorcycles?
On September 11, the National Intellectual Property Administration website showed that BYD had obtained authorization for a design patent for an 'electric motorcycle' and displayed multiple design images of the electric motorcycle. The patent was applied for by BYD on December 6, 2023, and authorized on September 10.

In May this year, rumors circulated online that BYD was planning to launch electric motorcycles and that its first electric motorcycle would make its debut.
In response, Li Yunfei, General Manager of BYD Group's Brand and Public Relations Department, issued a statement on his personal social media account stating that the recent rumors circulating online, such as "BYD is launching electric motorcycles," "BYD's first motorcycle has made its debut," and "BYD is producing electric bicycles," were all untrue.
In general, obtaining a design patent for an electric motorcycle does not necessarily mean that BYD will launch such a product, but it certainly prepares them for unforeseen circumstances, especially considering that BYD does have plans for the electric motorcycle business.
As early as early January this year, Nikkei Asia reported that Singapore-based electric motorcycle startup Scorpio Electric would collaborate with BYD to launch electric motorcycles in Southeast Asia.
However, BYD has not made any official response to this news.
Additionally, in February this year, BYD's Fudi Battery officially announced its intention to "develop safe batteries that can be carried upstairs." The announcement further stated: "Based on the Nanjing '2·23' fire accident, the Fudi Battery management and development teams held an emergency meeting overnight to discuss quality and safety solutions for two-wheelers. After discussion, it was decided that Fudi Battery would apply its passenger vehicle research and development achievements to the two-wheeler field, increase investment in two-wheeler research and development, and work with all parties to develop safe batteries that can be carried upstairs."
