On September 25, 2024, BYD Group celebrated a significant milestone in its development - the official rollout of its 9 millionth new energy vehicle.
The special location of this rollout marks BYD's achievement of producing 1 million vehicles from the 8 millionth to the 9 millionth in just over two months, demonstrating its robust growth momentum in the new energy vehicle sector.
The model that rolled off the line is BYD's flagship product from its premium brand, Yangwang - the Yangwang U9, a million-yuan-level pure electric supercar with outstanding performance.
The Yangwang U9 is built on BYD's core technologies of "Easy Quad" and "Cloud Suspension-X". It is the first domestic mass-produced model to utilize carbon fiber structural components, with carbon fiber material strength 5 to 6 times that of steel.
To meet the ultra-high performance and quality requirements of the U9, BYD has built a high-standard dedicated factory in Shenzhen-Shantou, which is also the first domestic factory dedicated to new energy supercars. The production of the U9 has strict requirements on both the production process environment and employee skills. To address this, BYD has custom-built a 2,000-square-meter constant temperature and humidity workshop and selected experienced high-skilled employees.
The latest top speed record of the Yangwang U9 supercar is 375.12 km/h. The official announcement stated that it has completed a six-month on-site test in Xinbei and will challenge "the toughest support in the world." The price of the Yangwang U9 is 1.68 million yuan.
Since the launch of the first BYD F3 DM in 2008, BYD has traversed an extraordinary journey. Its new energy vehicle population has continued to grow, reaching 1.607 million in 2024, solidifying its position as the global leader in new energy vehicle sales.
With the rollout of its 9 millionth new energy vehicle, BYD is poised to achieve the milestone of rolling off its 10 millionth new energy vehicle within 2024, further consolidating its leading position in the global new energy vehicle market.
