Building upon the first-generation system, vivo has achieved self-developed Rust kernel, the BlueOS Kernel, in BlueOS 2. The BlueOS Kernel, written in Rust, boasts memory safety, versatility, and high performance, supporting various embedded platforms, enabling BlueOS 2 to achieve full-stack self-development from the kernel to the system framework. In terms of AI exploration, BlueOS leverages the intelligence capabilities of the new BlueMind large model matrix, collaborating with the application ecosystem built by quick apps, smart cards, and agents. Meanwhile, it brings an upgraded experience to users and developers through the intention framework provided by the native AI system architecture and the capabilities of large models on both the client and cloud sides.

During the 2024 vivo Developer Conference, Zhou Wei, Vice President of vivo, Vice President of OS Products, and President of vivo AI Global Research Institute, announced the details of the second vivo BlueOS Innovation Competition. It is reported that this competition will focus on the translation and interoperability of Rust language, with the prize pool increased to 1 million yuan. vivo aims to make this competition the most prestigious and influential Rust top competition in the industry.

In the first half of this year, the first BlueOS Innovation Competition, hosted by the OpenAtom Foundation and co-organized by vivo, was successfully held. It attracted over 300 developers from top universities such as Tsinghua University and Peking University, forming over 200 teams. From 50 entries in two categories, 2 first prizes, 4 second prizes, 7 third prizes, and 8 excellence awards were awarded, with a total prize pool of up to 750,000 yuan. This competition not only provided users and developers with an opportunity to gain in-depth understanding and experience of BlueOS but also created a stage to showcase developers' innovation and exploration spirit through advanced technology empowerment and generous rewards.

To further promote technological innovation in domestic operating systems and foster ecosystem prosperity, the second BlueOS Innovation Competition, hosted by the OpenAtom Foundation and co-organized by vivo, is now officially open for recruitment. BlueOS, built on full-stack self-development with Rust language, is also an intelligent platform "born for AI." This competition offers two categories: "Automated Solution for C/C++ and Rust Ecosystem Interoperability Tools" and "BlueOS AI Innovation Application Development," allowing participants to experience and apply BlueOS more comprehensively and three-dimensionally.

In terms of prizes, the "Automated Solution for C/C++ and Rust Ecosystem Interoperability Tools" category offers 1 first prize of 300,000 yuan, 2 second prizes of 150,000 yuan each, 5 third prizes of 80,000 yuan each, and 10 excellence awards of vivo TWS earphones. The "BlueOS AI Innovation Application Development" category offers 1 first prize of 100,000 yuan, 2 second prizes of 40,000 yuan each, and 6 third prizes of 20,000 yuan each. The total prize pool for both categories reaches 1.3 million yuan, with a significant increase in the number of winners compared to the previous competition. All winning teams will receive vivo physical prizes and priority interview rights.

Registration is now officially open. vivo will hold online live training in October to provide participants with competition rules explanations and Q&A sessions. The online preliminary round will be evaluated in November, and the finalists will be announced after professional judging. The offline final round and award ceremony will be held in January 2025.
