This morning, ColorOS 15 was officially released!
Isn't it a bit sudden? Let's rewind a bit.
This year's OPPO Developer Conference was held in Hangzhou with the theme "AI, One Step Closer." The official announcement was to share OPPO's strategic layout and technological achievements in the era of AI smartphones, jointly explore how AI technology can be more deeply integrated into daily life, and provide a platform for global developers to showcase, exchange, and collaborate.

In addition to OPPO's latest research achievements in various fields, the most important part of this year's ODC 24 is, of course, the brand-new ColorOS 15.
As the coolest member of the Lei Technology editorial team, I've had the pleasure of upgrading and experiencing it early on.
As for what significant upgrades ColorOS 15 brings and how it improves upon the previous version, ColorOS 14...
I can only say that there are indeed quite a few new features added.
Moreover, this round does have something substantial to offer.
Dual-engine Boost for Double Smoothness
Design that belongs to its time should serve the present, catching up with and even leading the fashion trends of the era.
The design concept of ColorOS 15 is called "Seeing Nature, Seeing Oneself."

In terms of overall graphic design, ColorOS 15 introduces natural lighting and shadow effects into its design language. Not only are the notification center and control center separated, but more personalized designs are also injected into system interactions, icons, and interface presentations.
One of the representative features is the "Inspiration Theme."

Specifically, OPPO's lock screen can now display a more diverse range of clock styles, from formal and lively to solemn and artistic, offering users a variety of options to choose from.
Not only that, but you can also use images with subject elements as wallpapers, and ColorOS 15 will automatically apply a depth-of-field effect, making the screen more three-dimensional and vivid. The entire process, from turning off the screen to turning it on and unlocking the desktop, is accompanied by smooth animations.

It not only looks better but also has a higher sense of quality.
Of course, such smooth effects obviously don't stop at the zoom effects from the lock screen to the lit screen.
With the support of "Flexible Rebound," ColorOS 15 strives for smoothness in every detail, from the transition effects of app opening and closing, the silky smooth experience of left and right swipe gestures, to the volume adjustment function of the pull-down status bar. It's as smooth as "Dove" chocolate.
More specifically, ColorOS 15's Aurora Engine brings the industry's first parallel animation presentation.

In this way, when the second animation starts, the first one doesn't disappear immediately but gradually falls back along its original trajectory. The official even provides natural sliding animation effects that can cover third-party applications, making the visual experience more coherent and the animation more elegant.
Yes, it's quite elaborate.
Such smooth animations are not just achieved through hardware stacking. To break through the smoothness bottleneck, it's necessary to start with hardware-software collaboration.
That's why OPPO, based on its past experience in the chip field, has introduced the "ColorOS Super Computing Platform," which allows for more refined hardware tuning and brings a host of new performance technologies.
The above roughly summarizes the updates related to smoothness in ColorOS 15.
Smarter and More Concise
The most eye-catching new feature of ColorOS 15 is undoubtedly the brand-new "Fluid Cloud" that OPPO has been hyping up early on.
The newly upgraded Fluid Cloud not only supports notification integration for more third-party applications but also allows for the simultaneous display of multiple Fluid Cloud cards, making service information more straightforward.
Most importantly, the status capsule is now centered and aligned.

You gotta admit, this is much more user-friendly than the Dynamic Island.
The much-anticipated split-screen feature has also been upgraded this time around.
ColorOS 15 brings the most powerful free split-screen functionality in OPPO's history to straight-edge phones, enabling split-screen for 99% of applications. The free floating window feature even supports seamless switching between two floating windows, gesture operations, and free resizing, significantly enhancing practicality.

OPPO believes that the current application concepts of large AI models are still too far removed from ordinary users. The AI technology exploration in ColorOS 15, therefore, aims to return to the value proposition of "user needs and experience."
The first thing to mention is the simplified Breeno Assistant.
The new Breeno Assistant not only supports more natural continuous dialogue but also allows for "one-click screen inquiry" anytime, anywhere, easily accessing features such as attraction recognition, information inquiry, itinerary planning, and flight ticket purchases. It can even take a picture and ask questions, supporting scenes such as object recognition and homework correction, truly making it possible to ask anything.

The new "AI Imaging" can not only remove reflections and motion blur but can even reconstruct blurry images, making photography easier and more effortless.

There's also "AI Office." Take the "AI Note Assistant" showcased by the ColorOS design director on Weibo as an example.
This feature is easy to understand, supporting one-click smart formatting, polishing, and continuation of notes.
While many AI tools now have similar capabilities, ColorOS 15 has clearly integrated the AI assistant into the note-taking tool, making it more convenient than the previous process of copying to an AI assistant, giving instructions, and copying back.
The widely acclaimed "AI Call Summary" has also been comprehensively upgraded to a global "AI Voice Assistant," supporting all third-party applications. As long as there's sound on the screen, AI can help you listen.
As the design director said, AI should not excessively disturb users but happen naturally.

The goal of ColorOS 15 is to enable "AI for everyone."
Cross-Platform "Barrier-Breaking" Interconnection
Last year, OPPO added the "Open Files Freely" feature to ColorOS 14.
This feature not only allows for opening professional documents such as CAD and Markdown formats but can even preview Apple files like Keynote and Pages directly on OPPO phones, effectively breaking down barriers between different ecosystems.
Building on this, OPPO has gone one step further this year, with ColorOS 15 specifically enhancing connectivity between devices.

The newly added cross-platform file transfer feature between iOS and Android allows for seamless transfer of photos and files between OPPO phones and iOS devices, making it easier for iPhone users to integrate into the OPPO ecosystem and switch between devices with ease.
Transfer speed? It only takes 8 seconds to transfer 100 4K photos, which is indeed quite fast.
However, for now, iPhone users still need to download a file transfer app. For a more native "touch-to-transfer" experience, you'll have to wait a while longer.
Regardless, breaking down ecosystem barriers deserves praise.
For those who already have an Apple ecosystem but want to try out Android phones, this should be quite appealing.
AI OS Adds a New Player
Finally, OPPO officially announced the specific update schedule.
OPPO ColorOS 15 will be first available on the OPPO Find X8 series and OnePlus 13 series, with rollouts to older device models starting in November.
Eleven models, including the OPPO Find X7 series, Find N3, Find N3 Flip, OnePlus Ace3 series, OnePlus 12, and OnePlus Pad, will receive the official update in November, with nearly 50 additional devices expected to experience the innovative features of ColorOS 15 in the future.

Overall, ColorOS 15 is a smarter, smoother, and more efficient AI mobile operating system.
Its improvements in efficiency can significantly enhance users' daily work and life experiences. The upgrade to Fluid Cloud also boosts the overall information acquisition efficiency of the system. The AI upgrades make ColorOS 15 even more aligned with user needs in the future AI era, showcasing the potential for large model capabilities to revolutionize terminal experiences.
Today, the whirlwind of large model technologies, represented by ChatGPT, is sweeping the globe. While these technologies are profoundly impacting various industries, they also seem to be complicating smartphone system functions.
In my opinion, the key to creating a good operating system lies in balancing user needs with software complexity. ColorOS 15 does an excellent job of this. By innovating the system to help users reduce unnecessary "operations" and "lags," it makes consumers' digital lives smoother, more convenient, and more seamlessly integrated with real life.
As for the actual experience of ColorOS 15? We'll just have to wait for Lei Technology's hands-on review to find out.
