According to reports, OpenAI is considering developing a web browser deeply integrated with its ChatGPT chatbot. Sources revealed that OpenAI has negotiated or entered into collaborations with various website and app developers, including Condé Nast, Redfin, Eventbrite, and Priceline, regarding search functionality.

This move will put Sam Altman-led OpenAI in direct competition with Google, which currently dominates the browser and search markets. Notably, OpenAI has already ventured into the search market with the launch of ChatGPT with Search. Since ChatGPT's debut in late 2022, Google's parent company Alphabet has been striving to enhance its AI capabilities and responded by introducing its own generative AI chatbot, Gemini, last year.

The report also noted that OpenAI is in talks with Samsung to provide AI functionalities on its devices. Samsung is a significant business partner of Google. Previously, OpenAI established a partnership with Apple to provide technical support for the Apple Intelligence feature on new Apple devices.

The U.S. Department of Justice also stated this week that it requested Google to sell its Chrome browser business to break its monopoly in the search sector, further destabilizing Google's dominance in the browser market.

However, the report also pointed out that OpenAI is still far from officially launching its browser product. Google, OpenAI, and Samsung have not immediately responded to requests for comment on the above news.
