Over the past few days, screenshots from a purported "Wang Xiaoyan" account on Xiaomi Lingshoutong's community platform have garnered widespread attention online, stirring up considerable controversy among netizens.
However, a twist emerged as Xiaomi's public relations team swiftly intervened, clarifying that the comments in question were not made by Wang Xiaoyan herself, but rather by an internal employee posing as her.
In January 2025, a netizen shared a screenshot from Xiaomi Lingshoutong's community on a social media platform, depicting remarks attributed to Wang Xiaoyan, suspected to be Xiaomi Group's Vice President and President of the China region, advising employees to "not merely focus on incentives." This sparked heated debates and criticism from netizens.
On January 8, Wang Hua, the General Manager of Xiaomi Group's Public Relations Department, provided a detailed explanation of the incident via Weibo.
Wang Hua affirmed that following internal investigations, it was established that Wang Xiaoyan did not make these remarks. Instead, they were posted by individual employees who had impersonated her by altering their avatars and nicknames.
Wang Hua underscored that this was essentially an internal matter within the company. The community section of Xiaomi Lingshoutong was originally intended to serve as a communication platform for offline store employees. However, due to the absence of a rigorous real-name verification system in this section, the miscommunication of information occurred.
In reality, it was an employee posing as the CEO who made the remarks, not Wang Xiaoyan herself.
Given the significant impact that executive remarks can have on stock prices, the company has announced that the relevant employees will face disciplinary action. Specific punishment measures have not been disclosed, but it is anticipated that they will be severe.
