Recently, when Meizu's social media account removed the word "Starry," it sparked a frenzy in the tech community. Rumors even circulated within gossip circles that Geely planned to withdraw its investment, suggesting that Meizu was on the brink of collapse.
Fortunately, Wan Zhiqiang, the CMO of Starry Meizu Group China, swiftly addressed the concerns, stating, "There's no need to overthink the renaming. The company's core and name remain unchanged, and we will simply focus more on the Meizu brand moving forward." This reassurance brought comfort to many Meizu fans.
Just as Meizu fans were beginning to relax, an executive from Meizu brought another piece of good news early this morning. Former Meizu Flyme product manager Chen Jiayi confirmed his return.

Chen Jiayi himself also posted on Xiaolvshu that he and his team had reviewed each piece of feedback received recently and organized them into a follow-up table, which they are progressively addressing.
Among the improvements, the status bar lyrics have been adjusted to a simpler and clearer version, the transition animation for live notifications is being optimized, and the issue of "application suggestions sometimes jumping unexpectedly when clicked" has been addressed and resolved.
According to public information, while Chen Jiayi's position may not be as high as Yan Qiang, he is a crucial member of Flyme, often referred to as the "Whampoa Military Academy" of the tech industry. He spearheaded the early design of Flyme, and features like bubble notifications, small window mode, and Aicy screen recognition can largely be attributed to his contributions.
As Meizu faced challenges, many executives parted ways. Chen Xi, who previously headed Flyme design, moved to OPPO, and engineer Hong Hansheng was also recruited by OPPO to oversee software technology planning.
Chen Jiayi left at the end of 2020. After bidding farewell to Meizu, he worked for OnePlus and NIO. Now, five years later, many Meizu fans are thrilled about his return, exclaiming that "the familiar Meizu is coming back."
However, the return of veterans is but a spice. If Meizu aims to win this comeback battle, the crux lies in whether the Meizu 22 can capture the market's heart.
