As the release date of Apple's new iPhone 16 series approaches, more details about the series of phones are gradually emerging.
It is understood that the iPhone 16 Pro series will adopt Apple's brand-new BRS (Border Reduction Structure) narrow bezel technology for its front screen. This technology allows for a more compact and efficient layout of the underlying screen circuits, making the bezels narrower without affecting the screen's performance or the overall shape of the device.
Recently, a blogger revealed on a social platform that Apple's upcoming iPhone 16 Pro is expected to further narrow its bezels, potentially surpassing the Samsung Galaxy S24 to become the smartphone with the narrowest bezels in the world.
Meanwhile, another blogger also shared detailed parameters about the iPhone 16 series on Weibo. It is reported that these parameters focus on screen size and bezel width, with the specific data as follows:
iPhone 16: Height 145.6399mm, Width 69.6285mm, Screen bezel width 2.0497mm.
iPhone 16 Plus: Height 158.888mm, Width 75.756mm, Screen bezel width 2.0599mm.
iPhone 16 Pro: Height 147.618mm, Width 69.45mm, Impressive screen bezel width of only 1.2mm.
iPhone 16 Pro Max: Height 161.03mm, Width 75.57mm, Its screen bezel width reaches an extreme 1.15mm.
In addition, the blogger who leaked the information also mentioned that the punch-hole design of the iPhone 16 series remains consistent with the previous generation, with the components located on the left side of the screen, a baseline distance of 6mm, and the size and position of the punch-hole remaining equal. These details reveal Apple's continued efforts in pursuing ultimate screen design and user experience.
It is worth mentioning that the screen changes in the iPhone 16 Pro series may be related to the addition of a 5x quad-prism telephoto camera, which is expected to be equipped on both Pro models this year. Moreover, the ultra-wide-angle camera on the iPhone 16 Pro series will also undergo an upgrade.
Therefore, in terms of the camera system, the upgrade of the iPhone 16 Pro is even more eye-catching. The new iPhone will be equipped with a 5MP periscope telephoto lens with 12x optical zoom and a 48MP ultra-wide-angle camera. The combination of these two technologies is expected to push the iPhone 16 Pro to the forefront of the best camera phones in 2024. These camera upgrades will not only improve the clarity of photos and videos but also enhance shooting performance in low-light environments.
In addition to the innovation in the camera system, the iPhone 16 Pro also introduces a dedicated capture button that combines physical pressure and touch sensitivity, providing users with an experience similar to that of a traditional camera shutter button. Furthermore, this button may also support other functions such as zoom control, further enhancing the user experience.
In terms of configuration, different models in the iPhone 16 series will be equipped with upgraded A18 and A18 Pro chips, which will be manufactured using TSMC's "N3E" enhanced 3nm process.
These upgraded chips will be equipped with a more powerful neural engine, which will significantly improve the performance of the iPhone 16 series in artificial intelligence and machine learning.
In addition, according to analyst Guo Mingqi, Apple will use batteries with higher energy density, which will extend battery life and may even maintain the same battery size as existing models. Previous rumors have also indicated that both iPhone 16 Pro models will use stacked battery technology, which can increase battery capacity and extend battery life. Other rumors suggest that this year's iPhone 16 Pro Max will have a battery life of over 30 hours (while the iPhone 15 Pro Max has a battery life of 29 hours).
Furthermore, according to Korean media reports, the two iPhone 16 Pro models will be equipped with a new maximum storage capacity of 2TB. Mingmei Infinite understands that high-capacity models will switch to higher-density four-layer cell (QLC) NAND flash memory. Using QLC NAND allows the phone to accommodate more storage space in a smaller space and is cheaper than the three-layer cell (TLC) NAND currently used in iPhones.
There are also reports that the iPhone 16 series will come standard with high refresh rate screens for the first time in Apple's history. However, based on Apple's "knife cuts," the standard version of the iPhone may not support full-blooded Promotion and is likely to be differentiated from the Pro version in this aspect. It is still uncertain whether the iPhone 16 standard version will support LTPO intelligent refresh rate adjustment or may only have a screen with a maximum refresh rate of 90Hz.
Of course, it is also possible that Apple will temporarily change its mind and continue to use a 60Hz screen on the standard version of the iPhone.
Incidentally, well-known analyst Guo Mingqi recently released the latest predictions about the iPhone 16 series. According to him, the iPhone 16 series will come in a total of 8 colors, including black, white (Starlight color), gray (original titanium metal), and rose gold for the iPhone 16 Pro/Pro Max, as well as black, green, pink, blue, and white for the iPhone 16/16 Plus.
The color changes of the iPhone 16 Pro/Pro Max are noteworthy, with blue being replaced by rose gold, a change that may attract more consumer attention and favor. Guo Mingqi also believes that the new color scheme will become one of the most sought-after options.
As for the color adjustments of the iPhone 16/16 Plus, the main change is that yellow has been replaced by white, which is the Starlight color of the previous two years. Such an adjustment may be more in line with market demand and expectations for the iPhone 16 series.
Finally, according to a report shared by DSCC analyst Ross Young, Apple will start panel production for the iPhone 16 series this month, following the same production cycle schedule as the previous iPhone 15.
This means that the overall design of the iPhone 16 series has been basically finalized and will meet everyone as scheduled in September.
