At the Huawei Mate XTs tri-fold smartphone launch event, Yu Chengdong confidently declared that the device is "powered by the Kirin 9020 chip." This marks the first time Huawei has openly disclosed the chip model at a product unveiling since its resurgence.

According to Yu Chengdong, the Huawei Mate XTs boasts the Kirin 9020 chip paired with HarmonyOS 5, delivering an impressive 36% boost in overall performance. The Kirin 9020 stands as Huawei's most potent mobile processor to date.

Notably, following the Huawei Pura80 series update, the Kirin 9020 chip was also prominently featured on the product page and Huawei's official website. This shift is significant as Huawei had previously refrained from discussing its mobile processor models, almost to the point of concealing them.

This bold announcement signifies the establishment of a robust security barrier for the Kirin chip product line. The previous reluctance to discuss chip models stemmed from the fear of U.S. sanctions, a necessary precaution.

It now appears that Huawei's Kirin chips have attained a level of autonomy and control, hinting at future product launches where more Kirin chips will be showcased openly, no longer shrouded in secrecy.

Regarding the pricing of the Huawei Mate XTs, it has been set at RMB 17,999. Equipped with upgraded chips and Red Maple Imaging technology, the device offers a RMB 2,000 price reduction compared to the first generation's starting price of RMB 19,999. This represents a combination of enhanced specifications and a more affordable price point. However, the lower price tag alone does not guarantee widespread consumer adoption.
