Although the core content of the 618 event every year is price reductions, this year's situation is a bit different. Many products have seen particularly steep price cuts, especially in the mobile phone industry. Taking Apple as an example, to boost sales, the entire iPhone 15 series has launched unprecedented price reductions. This is not unfounded. Compared to the sharp price reductions of the iPhone 14 models during last year's 618 event, the iPhone 15 has seen an additional few hundred yuan during this year's 618 event. The reason is simple, domestic phones represented by Huawei have put considerable pressure on Apple, but Apple also has a proven trick - price reductions, and the effectiveness of this trick has been verified once again.
Today is the last day of the 618 event on major platforms, and the price reductions for mobile phones have hit bottom. Although it's not yet 24 o'clock, the rankings have basically been determined and will not change. Taking the JD platform as an example, from the cumulative list of all products, it can be seen that Apple can be said to have emerged victorious. Three models from the iPhone 15 series occupy the top three spots, and the most expensive iPhone 15 Pro Max even ranks first. It can be seen that Apple phones still occupy an irreplaceable position in the hearts of Chinese consumers in the short term.
Although domestic high-end phones have developed rapidly in the past two years, they are not reflected on this list. Only the old flagship Xiaomi 13 ranks ninth, barely making it onto the list. The rest are mid- to low-end models. Many people may wonder, in the JD platform's list of models priced above 6000 yuan, Huawei has six models on the list, with the Pura 70 even ranking third (12GB+512GB priced at 5999 yuan, 12GB+1TB priced at 6999 yuan, which qualifies for the 6000 yuan list). Why didn't they make it to the overall ranking?
It's simple. It only shows that there is a significant gap in sales. Once there are no prerequisites, domestic cost-effective models will rush into the overall ranking with low prices. Even so, Apple still emerged victorious, with sales of high-end flagship models far exceeding those of domestic cost-effective phones. If the prices are averaged out (for example, one iPhone 15 can buy three Redmi K70s), the gap will be even greater. It's not an exaggeration to say that it's far ahead. Why domestic users are so fond of the iPhone is a question worth pondering for domestic phone manufacturers.
Once 618 ends, although many phones will still see price reductions, the intensity of the reductions will return to normal levels. If users are not prepared to make a purchase today, they will have to wait until Double 11 to take another look. Many domestic phone users have always wondered why a phone like the iPhone 15, with a low battery capacity, slow charging speed, and a maximum screen refresh rate of only 60Hz, would be purchased by so many people. It can only be said that the brand image has been deeply ingrained in users' hearts, and many people only recognize the iPhone when buying a phone, even if it's a bit more expensive.
Some Android phone users may think that people who buy the iPhone are paying an "intelligence tax," but that's not true. Interests and hobbies are sometimes impossible to measure with money. You may think it's not worth it, but others think it is. There's no need to impose your own consumption habits on others. Moreover, as long as it's not illegal, you can spend your money however you want, and others have no right to interfere.
Finally, I still want to ask you all, do you think domestic phones still have a chance to turn the tables on the list when there are only a few hours left before the end of this year's 618 event?
