Following the usual practice, Xiaomi will introduce its all-new digital series flagship in the fourth quarter of this year. Successive leaks indicate that the brand-new Xiaomi 15 series will be released earlier this year, potentially debuting in mid-October.
For comparison, the previous generation Xiaomi 14 series was officially launched on October 26, 2023. If the leak information is accurate, we should see Xiaomi's digital flagship iteration earlier this year.
Indeed, as the release date approaches, more leaks about the product are emerging.
Firstly, it is reported that the Xiaomi 15 Standard Edition is a small-screen flagship, measuring approximately 6.36 inches and equipped with a 4900mAh battery, supporting 90W wired fast charging and 50W wireless fast charging.
Additionally, the Xiaomi 15 Pro is said to have an increased battery capacity of 6000mAh, also supporting 90W wired fast charging, making it the Xiaomi digital series' largest battery Pro model.
Previous leaks revealed that this battery in the Xiaomi 15 Pro boasts an ultra-high energy density, with a significantly higher silicon content than competitors.
It is reported that the theoretical specific capacity of silicon can reach 4200 mAh/g, over 10 times that of graphite (372mAh/g).
For the anode, the capacity when the lithium-ion insertion amount reaches its maximum is the theoretical specific capacity, which means that under the same weight, the capacity of a silicon anode battery is larger.
Leveraging this advantage, the Xiaomi 15 Pro incorporates a 6000mAh battery while maintaining a slim design.
Moreover, both models come standard with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen4 mobile platform, which adopts Qualcomm's in-house Nuvia Phoenix architecture, offering stronger performance than the Arm public version. Paired with TSMC's 3nm process, performance is expected to significantly improve, delivering better energy efficiency.
Furthermore, leaks claim that the Snapdragon 8 Gen4's in-house supercore frequency exceeds 4.0GHz, setting a new industry record for performance.
In terms of photography, the Leica 50MP triple camera setup remains, but both the sensor and aperture will be upgraded. The main camera will continue to use OmniVision's OV50 series sensor, featuring 50MP + 1/1.3"± size + an ultra-large aperture.
While it's unclear whether it will be the OV50H or the OV50K, customization is still expected. Additionally, the coating has been changed, adding new features such as improved low-light photography and ultra-fast focusing.
Design-wise, the "straight-screen cannon" style is carried through, with a screen size still around 6.36 inches and 1.5K LTPO quality. Paired with a metal frame, the visual experience is not expected to differ significantly from the previous generation.
However, in terms of materials, besides conventional glass, there are also rumored to be options featuring leather patches.
Other specifications include up to 16GB+1TB storage combinations and support for stereo speakers.
Notably, Lei Jun previously stated during the launch of the Xiaomi 14 series that it was the last Xiaomi digital flagship to start at 3999 yuan. Lei Jun expressed Xiaomi's aspiration to create better phones and indicated that future price increases would be justified solely by making better high-end devices.
In conclusion, based on current leaks, the Xiaomi 15 Standard Edition truly deserves the title of a "no weaknesses" phone.
That's it for the core specifications of the Xiaomi 15/Pro. Assuming everything goes as planned, we can expect to see renders or mockups leaked in the coming months.
By then, we'll finally get a glimpse of the Xiaomi 15 series, and hopefully, Lu Weibing can continue Lei Jun's legacy and bring us even more surprises.
