Key personnel at DingTalk are also leaving.

On July 25, it was reported that Qi Junsheng, the Chief Product Officer of DingTalk, has recently resigned due to personal family reasons.

It is understood that before joining DingTalk, Qi Junsheng served as the principal product leader at Taobao for many years, as well as General Manager of the Merchant Business Department and Industry General Manager. During his tenure at DingTalk, Qi Junsheng was primarily responsible for the product strategy and development direction of DingTalk. His product philosophy is that products should adhere to creating "deep value", that is, deepening functionalities within their respective vertical fields to fundamentally solve problems for customers.

Qi Junsheng also led the development of DingTalk versions 7.0 and 7.5. Among them, DingTalk 7.0 focused on product upgrades for efficient collaboration, introducing new collaboration tools such as whiteboards, pivot tables, private documents, Teambition+OKR, and 10 other new features.

Version 7.5, on the other hand, centered on AI iterations, launching the DingTalk AI Super Assistant based on Aliyun's general language model Tongyi Qianwen, aiming to improve communication efficiency in information flow, collaboration processes, and decision-making, while reducing the burden on employees and managers.

There had been signs of his impending departure. According to an insider at DingTalk, Qi Junsheng was originally scheduled to attend the AI Application Conference session of the 2024 DingTalk Ecosystem Conference in June this year, but he did not show up on the day of the conference.

However, Qi Junsheng's departure will not affect the iteration direction of DingTalk products. In a previous interview with the media, he stated that DingTalk's positioning is as a super app, integrating both application platforms and ecosystems to consolidate and replace multiple scattered applications between users and customers. He believes that DingTalk has the conditions and opportunities to become a super app.

However, DingTalk still faces the same challenges as other remote collaboration software: how to improve the platform's revenue and profitability after cost reduction and efficiency enhancement, rather than merely pursuing the "DingTalk adoption rate", is the most critical issue for DingTalk to address.
