At the end of November last year, the Redmi K70 series made its official debut, setting a record of selling over 600,000 units in just 5 minutes during its initial sales due to its exceptional cost-performance ratio. Following this, it achieved remarkable market success. Recently, rumors about the latest iteration of this series, the Redmi K80 series, have begun to emerge, attracting the attention of many users. Now, there is an update as a digital blogger has revealed more details about the specifications of the K80 Pro.
According to the rumors, the Redmi K80 Pro is confirmed to support ultrasonic in-display fingerprint recognition technology, provided by Goodix Technology. Compared to the current mainstream optical fingerprint recognition solutions, ultrasonic sensors can detect the ridges and valleys of fingerprints by emitting pulses and generate 3D depth data, improving recognition accuracy. Additionally, this technology offers higher security and maintains good recognition performance even with wet or dirty hands.
Since the introduction of ultrasonic in-display fingerprint technology, Qualcomm has been a key promoter of the solution. Now that Goodix has also overcome the challenge of ultrasonic in-display fingerprint technology, Redmi K80 Pro adopts the Goodix solution.
Furthermore, previous leaks suggest that the new Redmi K80 series will include at least three versions: Redmi K80E, Redmi K80, and Redmi K80 Pro, with significant upgrades in processors, screens, batteries, and cameras. The former two models will be equipped with Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 and the latter with the next-generation Snapdragon 8 Gen 4, Qualcomm's first mobile chip using TSMC's 3nm process. This chip features a custom-designed "Phoenix" core and a "2+6" all-big-core architecture, tentatively named "Oryon Architecture," marking a significant change from Arm's public version and positioning the Redmi K80 Pro for outstanding performance in tackling complex tasks.
Apart from the aforementioned specifications, the Redmi K80 Pro will also feature an upgraded ultra-large battery for extended battery life. Notably, while the battery capacities of the Redmi K70 and Redmi K70 Pro were reduced from 5500mAh to 5000mAh, the Redmi K80 series may revert to a 5500mAh battery. For charging, the Redmi K80 Pro supports not only 120W wired charging but also 50W wireless charging, addressing a previous shortcoming. Despite its powerful configuration, the pricing of the Redmi K80 Pro remains reasonable, reflecting Lu Weibing's commitment to value while pushing the boundaries of specifications. If the starting price of the Redmi K80 Pro is set at 3999 yuan, what do you think, Xiaomi fans?
Additionally, it's worth mentioning that the Redmi K80 Pro is expected to debut in the fourth quarter of this year, powered by the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 processor. Meanwhile, the Xiaomi 15 series will also adopt the same processor but will be released slightly earlier than the Redmi K80 Pro. Notably, Xiaomi's digital series may choose between ultrasonic in-display fingerprint solutions from Goodix Technology and Qualcomm, depending on the company's decision.
In conclusion, the Redmi K80 Pro promises to be a high-performance flagship device equipped with advanced ultrasonic in-display fingerprint technology. It is poised to become one of the most noteworthy new products in the market in the second half of this year.
