Huawei HarmonyOS NEXT tested again, performance greatly improved, very smooth!

Recently, there have been more and more leaks about iOS18 on the internet, mainly focused on AI, but it seems to have little to do with domestic iPhone users. The AI on domestic iPhone will still be provided by domestic manufacturers, and in this area, only Huawei can compete with Apple in China. After all, to develop an independent research system, besides Huawei, no other manufacturer in China can do it. At present, it can be confirmed that HarmonyOS NEXT will definitely be commercially available before the end of the year. However, in reality, users are still unsure about the usability of HarmonyOS NEXT, as it is still in the testing phase and not yet available to ordinary users.

Recently, a blogger on the internet released another real-machine test of HarmonyOS NEXT, allowing ordinary users to have a clearer understanding of some daily usage experiences of the HarmonyOS. According to the blogger's real-machine experience, it can be seen that HarmonyOS 4.2, which is still compatible with Android, and NEXT, which is completely incompatible with Android, have significant differences in user experience. Although it is not stated which system provides a better experience, it at least offers users a third, completely different option.

The test model used by the blogger is obviously the Mate 60 Pro. In terms of actual operation, the first impression is very smooth. Switching between applications, launching applications, and returning to the desktop are all gesture operations without any lag, and the transition feels very smooth. The loading speed of pages for some large applications is very fast, which should be attributed to the preloading function of HarmonyOS NEXT that has been exposed online (some content will be loaded during the application installation stage) to reduce the loading time during application startup. Small applications may not notice much difference, but large applications with a lot of page content are completely different.

System security is also a crucial aspect that HarmonyOS NEXT emphasizes. In actual operation, whenever an application attempts to access personal privacy information such as device location, the system will display a very prominent prompt. Of course, iOS and other domestic systems customized based on Android also perform well in this area, and HarmonyOS fulfills its security responsibilities as a system.

In addition, HarmonyOS NEXT also performs well in AI. The "Xiaoyi Smart Assistant" can do many things and is deeply integrated into the system. Many people are unsure about what kind of black technology HarmonyOS uses to enable Huawei phones to deliver decent overall performance even when the Kirin chip's capabilities are not very strong. Some bloggers have tested and stated that compared to HarmonyOS 4.2, the overall performance of NEXT version HarmonyOS devices has improved by 30%.

Even more surprising is that Huawei plans to enhance device performance by at least 20% annually through system upgrades, starting from the system architecture and ecological performance. Huawei executives have even stated that the performance enhancement brought about by the improvement in HarmonyOS performance will surpass that brought about by advancements in chip manufacturing processes. In other words, Huawei is fully capable of addressing the impact of slow advancements in Kirin chip manufacturing processes. Of course, if subsequent Kirin chips can achieve further breakthroughs, the future of Huawei devices is truly worth looking forward to.

Huawei has achieved what many large manufacturers have failed to do in developing an independent research system (a few manufacturers have tried but failed to develop and eventually declined). This is truly impressive.
