realme's "Superluminal Charging" is coming soon, but it really doesn't need to be this fast!

Although smartphones can do more and more things nowadays, there are always a few basic requirements that remain unchanged for many people, such as good call quality, stable signal reception, and decent battery life. However, sometimes, higher numbers are not always better. For example, if the battery capacity is too high, the thickness of the phone will inevitably increase, affecting its hand feel. Similarly, if the charging speed is too fast, it may bring more negative effects, like causing the phone to heat up rapidly.

In fact, as long as a balance is found, it is still acceptable for ordinary users. For example, a battery capacity of around 5500mAh with around 100W fast charging is sufficient. However, manufacturers seem unable to stop pushing the boundaries of new technology. Previously, Redmi demonstrated 300W fast charging, but it has yet to be commercially available. Unexpectedly, this is not the limit, as realme has officially announced 320W "Superluminal Charging" today.

realme officially announced that it will officially launch 320W charging technology in 2 days. Although 320W is likely to be the peak speed, even if it is only achieved for a short time, it is still hard to imagine. Not to mention whether ordinary socket lines can handle it, such a high charging power will pose new challenges for device cooling if it is actually used. In fact, a few months ago, realme demonstrated 300W charging, which can charge a device from 0% to 17% in just 35 seconds, and with 320W, it's estimated to take around 30 seconds.

Some believe that such fast charging power will not be commercially available. Personally, I disagree. After all, realme phones can already support 240W charging, and it is not impossible to use 320W charging through a series of technological updates in the future. However, some concerns that arise from this need to be addressed, such as how to effectively maintain battery and device lifespan with such fast charging, as high temperatures can cause various problems.

There is also another possibility. realme has only announced that it will release 320W charging, but has not said it will be used on phones. If it is just a technology demonstration, I personally think it's quite suitable. If it is really going to be used on small devices like phones, there are too many problems to solve. Of course, it doesn't mean it can't be used in the future, but due to various supporting technologies, it's not suitable for commercial use at such a fast pace.

For many people, fast charging speed is important, but as long as it stays within an appropriate range, there should be no major problems. Once it exceeds that range, unforeseen issues may arise. Personally, I believe that if realme plans to commercialize 320W charging, it must have prepared solutions to address users' concerns, or it would not proceed with commercialization lightly.

Finally, I would like to ask you all: Would you use such a high-power charger?
