Breaking Xiaomi SU7's record, Lixiang L6 has produced 100,000 units in just 5 months after its launch

Since the launch of Xiaomi SU7, it has created miracle after miracle, such as delivering 10,000 units in 43 days and 20,000 units in 72 days.

Then, 27,000 units were delivered in the first quarter, and it is expected to deliver 120,000 units in 2024. These achievements are incredible for any other domestic new energy vehicle company and can be considered unprecedented.

However, Xiaomi SU7's record has been broken by Lixiang.

Recently, Lixiang announced that its star model, Lixiang L6, has reached the milestone of producing its 100,000th mass-produced vehicle, just five months after its launch.

Lixiang L6 was officially launched for sale in April this year. At that time, Lixiang introduced the MEGA, a pure electric MPV, but it did not perform well. So Lixiang quickly introduced the L6, a cheaper SUV, to save the situation.

Facts have proven that the move to introduce L6 was the right one. After its launch, L6 quickly became Lixiang's sales champion, currently accounting for half of Lixiang's total sales.

As shown in the figure above, Lixiang L6 was sold in April, with only 2,381 units sold in the first month. However, sales immediately surged to 13,000 units in the second month and 24,000 units in the third month, maintaining this level for three consecutive months.

In contrast, although Xiaomi sold over 7,000 units in April and over 8,000 units in May, sales remained stable at around 13,000-14,000 units for the next three months, lagging behind Lixiang L6 by 10,000 units.

The reason why Lixiang is so successful is undoubtedly due to its large production capacity. As a new automaker, Xiaomi SU7 has limited production capacity and needs time to ramp up.

However, Lixiang has previously achieved a monthly sales high of 50,000 units. Therefore, as long as there are sufficient orders for L6, Lixiang can prioritize production for this model. If orders are abundant, Lixiang L6 can even produce over 50,000 units per month.

In contrast, Xiaomi's production capacity can only be increased gradually. Even with over 100,000 orders in hand, Xiaomi can only deliver around 10,000 units per month due to production constraints.

The reason for Lixiang L6's popularity is that it is the cheapest extended-range electric vehicle in the Lixiang lineup, starting at just 240,000 yuan. Compared to L7, L8, and L9, it is the most affordable option and even has an advantage over the WENJIE M7.

Despite its affordability, L6 still offers sufficient features and a spacious interior, complete with amenities like sofas, refrigerators, and TVs. Moreover, due to its similar design language, L6 is visually indistinguishable from L7, L8, and L9, attracting consumers who may not be able to tell them apart.

Therefore, Xiaomi must work hard to increase its production capacity as soon as possible. Otherwise, it may affect customers' willingness to place orders due to production constraints rather than the product itself. No one wants to wait half a year to take delivery of their vehicle.
