Driven by national policies, 5G circuit boards, as pivotal components of 5G technology, are poised to further propel the industry's growth.
The 5G circuit board, officially known as the 5G communication module printed circuit board, is specifically designed to support the fifth-generation mobile communication technology (5G). These boards are characterized by high integration, a wide frequency range, intricate circuit design, robust anti-electromagnetic interference capabilities, and high safety and reliability. They hold vast potential for application in various sectors, including consumer electronics, communication base stations, IoT devices, and automobile manufacturing.
In recent years, China has prioritized the development of the 5G industry, issuing numerous policies such as the "Implementation Opinions on Further Deepening the Co-construction and Sharing of Telecommunications Infrastructure to Promote the High-quality Development of the 'Double Gigabit' Network," the "Upgraded Plan for the 'Sailing' Action on the Large-scale Application of 5G," and the "Notice on Strengthening the Collaborative Innovation and Development of 5G + Smart Tourism." With the backing of these policies, 5G circuit boards are set to accelerate the advancement of the industry.
Regarding raw materials, 5G circuit boards commonly employ liquid crystal polymers (LCP) and polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) as substrate materials. PTFE stands out due to its excellent electrical insulation, low dielectric constant, low dielectric loss, and robust chemical stability, making it widely used in the manufacturing of 5G circuit boards. Technologically, high-density interconnection (HDI) technology is crucial for the production of 5G circuit boards, significantly impacting their integration and data transmission capabilities.
According to the "2025-2030 5G Circuit Board Industry Market In-depth Research and Investment Prospect Prediction Analysis Report" by the Xin Sijie Industry Research Center, 5G circuit boards have extensive application prospects across multiple fields, with the communication base station sector being the largest consumer. These boards are integral to filters, power amplifiers, active antenna units, and signal transceivers in 5G communication base stations, ensuring efficient signal transmission. With the accelerated 5G commercialization in China, the number of base stations has consistently risen. By October 2024, China had 4.141 million 5G communication base stations, marking a new high. Anticipating increasing application demand, the 5G circuit board industry is expected to expand significantly.
Leading Chinese manufacturers of 5G circuit boards include Aeteon, Guanghe Technology, Mingyang Circuit, and Weixin Electronics. Aeteon specializes in the R&D, production, and sales of high-precision printed circuit boards and possesses the capacity for mass production of high-precision 5G circuit boards. The company's circuit board business reported revenue of 1.75 billion yuan in the first half of 2024, according to its semi-annual report.
Industry analysts from Xin Sijie remarked that the growing demand for 5G circuit boards is fueled by the continuous advancement of China's 5G communication technology and the expanding 5G network coverage. Numerous Chinese enterprises have ventured into the 5G circuit board industry, with their production capacities set to expand further. It is anticipated that with the support of national policies and the persistent efforts of local enterprises, the quality of China's 5G circuit boards will improve.
