Fast Technology News, November 4 – SpaceX has announced a cooperation agreement with chipmaker Qualcomm, under which Qualcomm will provide key network technology support for the Starlink Mobile communications service. The two companies will jointly build an integrated satellite-terrestrial communications system.

Starlink Mobile is a mobile communications project under SpaceX aimed at challenging major U.S. carriers such as Verizon, AT&T and T-Mobile.

Under the plan, Qualcomm will help SpaceX build a terrestrial communications network to complement Starlink's satellite capabilities, creating a more comprehensively covered cellular infrastructure.

The partnership is a multi-year agreement, and the two sides did not disclose specific financial terms. According to the project timeline, network construction is scheduled to begin deployment next year.

Durga Malladi, Executive Vice President at Qualcomm, said: "Through our partnership with SpaceX, we are building the world's leading cellular communications infrastructure in the United States. While advancing current 5G technology, we also expect to lay the foundation for future AI-centric 6G networks."

Following the partnership announcement, Qualcomm shares rose 4% in pre-market trading. Industry observers believe that Starlink's expansion from satellite broadband into the terrestrial mobile communications sector will create a new impact on the traditional U.S. telecom market landscape, and Qualcomm's technology input will significantly accelerate the commercialization of Starlink Mobile.
