On the evening of October 26, Jiemei Technology made a significant announcement: its board of directors has given the green light to a project aimed at producing 40,000 tons of optical-grade BOPET film and 768 million square meters of high-end release film annually. The management team has been empowered to handle all associated procedures, with the project requiring a substantial total investment of 2.684 billion yuan.

As detailed in the announcement, the project envisions setting up a production line in Anji, Zhejiang, capable of churning out 40,000 tons of optical-grade BOPET film and 768 million square meters of high-end MLCC release film each year. Additionally, it will encompass the construction of vital supporting facilities, including factory buildings, warehouses, and utilities. The project will necessitate an additional 204 acres of land, with a construction area spanning approximately 159,100 square meters. The construction timeline is set at three years, with production expected to commence gradually in mid-2028.
Delving into the rationale behind this substantial capacity expansion, Jiemei Technology explained in the project investment background that, buoyed by sustained robust downstream demand, the company's shipments of release film have been on an upward trajectory, now hitting the ceiling of its existing production capacity. This has rendered it impossible to further expand bulk supply to strategic customers.
This strategic investment is poised to further refine the company's industrial chain layout for optical-grade BOPET film and high-end release film, bolstering the security of core raw material supplies and fortifying its support capabilities for high-end products.
