Chery Establishes Intelligent Center

At the close of May, Chery Group formally unveiled the launch of its intelligent integration initiative, consolidating relevant operations from Sunlion Technology, Dazhuo Intelligence, and the R&D Institute into the newly formed 'Chery Intelligent Center'.

This center concentrates on three pivotal areas: smart cockpits, advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), and digital architectures.

In this consolidation, Dazhuo Intelligence, a subsidiary in which Chery invested approximately 500 million yuan, has been fully integrated into the new center. Its unfinished High-Speed Navigation on Autopilot (NOA) program has been transitioned to Jianzhi Technology.

Core Management Team Established

As the formation of the new center advances, the appointments for key leadership positions are becoming increasingly clear.

Wu Xuebin, former Deputy General Manager of Chery Group and CEO of Sunlion Technology, assumes the role of leader, guiding the overall strategic direction of Chery's intelligent business endeavors.

The operational executive role is led by Xie Baojun, who joined Dazhuo Intelligence in 2023. Xie Baojun previously held the position of Vice President at Zeekr, where he oversaw EE architecture-related operations.

Notably, Zhang Xiaohong, the former second-in-command at Dazhuo Intelligence, has confirmed his resignation. Earlier rumors speculated that he would lead the ADAS research and development system.

Multiple Challenges Necessitate Reform

Prior to the establishment of the Intelligent Center, Chery's intelligent business operations were fragmented:

This 'self-research + external procurement' parallel model led to duplicative resource investments. According to insiders, there was overlap in sensor procurement and algorithm development, directly prolonging the R&D cycle.

Furthermore, intensifying industry competition has served as a catalyst for reform. After BYD introduced advanced assisted driving features to models priced below 100,000 yuan and Geely Group launched the Qianli Haohan architecture, Chery Group must urgently secure a competitive edge in intelligent business.

Particularly during a crucial period for the group's IPO aspirations, the newly established Intelligent Center bears a significant responsibility.

It is worth mentioning that Chery's June sales figures have already demonstrated resilience, with total sales reaching 233,600 units (a 16.6% year-on-year increase), including 71,600 new energy vehicle sales (a 59.6% year-on-year increase) and 106,300 exports (a 9.6% year-on-year increase).

This positive market performance provides a buffer for Chery's intelligent reform efforts, and the effectiveness of the new center will directly shape Chery's subsequent positioning and competitive edge in the smart electric vehicle race.
