According to media reports on June 17, at the 20th Global China Summit hosted by JPMorgan Chase, Alibaba Group Chairman Joe Tsai shared his insights on the integration trend of AI and cloud computing.

Tsai said that the close integration of AI and cloud computing is crucial as anyone using AI technology services cannot do without the support of powerful cloud computing capabilities.

He also said, "Although Microsoft and OpenAI have established a close cooperation, their independent status means that there is a high possibility that they will go separate ways in the future."

"As a technology company, we firmly believe that artificial intelligence will continue to progress and become increasingly smarter," said Tsai. "Artificial intelligence is a crucial field and cannot rely solely on a single path. This reminds me of a famous quote from Yogi Berra, who said, 'When you come to a fork in the road, take it.'"

In addition, Alibaba has adopted a more aggressive strategy in AI investment. Since the second half of 2023, Alibaba has invested in several leading AI startups, including Zhipu AI and Lingyiwanwu, with a total investment exceeding 13.5 billion yuan.

Tsai said that these investments will not only help promote AI technology innovation but also generate synergies by promoting the development of cloud computing business.
