Based on Guo Jing's observations in the Internet Circle, Tencent Cloud Drive has stealthily made its debut. Its official website currently displays a "COMING SOON" message and does not allow new user registrations. Additionally, there are no available versions for PC, iOS, or Android. The website's description simply states, "Secure storage, convenient access."

The web introduction of Tencent Cloud Drive highlights several Tencent-affiliated products, including Tencent Weiyun, Yuanbao, ima Knowledge Base, Tencent Meeting, Tencent Docs, WorkBuddy, Tencent Lexiang, and Tencent Zhihui.
Among its key features, Tencent Cloud Drive emphasizes multi-application data interoperability, universal access via a single account, cross-application global search, efficient collaboration, support for Agent invocation, and multiple versions catering to both personal and SaaS editions.
The launch of Tencent Cloud Drive indicates that Baidu Cloud will soon face a formidable competitor in the market.
Around 2016, several cloud drive products, such as 360 Cloud Drive, UC Cloud Drive, Sina Micro Disk, and LeTV Cloud Drive, announced their closures. This led many users to become skeptical of cloud drive services. Seizing this opportunity, Baidu Cloud and 115 Cloud Drive attracted new users, with Baidu Cloud emerging as the market leader, holding over 80% of the market share.
However, since 2019, a new wave of cloud drives has emerged in China. Products like Kuake Cloud Drive, Thunder Cloud Drive, and Alibaba Cloud Drive have been launched one after another. Even 360 Cloud Drive made a quiet return, rebranded as "360AI Cloud Drive." There are also lesser-known cloud drive products like 123 Cloud Drive and Chengtong Cloud Drive.

The current landscape of the domestic cloud drive industry is as follows:
1. Baidu Cloud continues to dominate the market, maintaining a very stable user base.
2. The user bases of other cloud drives are also expanding, creating a scenario reminiscent of "one superpower, multiple strong players." Baidu Cloud's massive user base does not prevent users from using other cloud drive products, such as Alibaba Cloud Drive, Thunder Cloud Drive, and 115 Cloud Drive.
3. Users now have diversified options for storing personal digital content. Some rely on cloud drives, while others use built-in cloud storage services on their phones, such as iCloud, Huawei Cloud, and Xiaomi Cloud Services. Some even purchase NAS devices for private cloud storage.
In theory, any internet giant has the potential to launch a cloud drive product to compete with Baidu Cloud. On April 20, 2026, Thunder introduced "Guangya Cloud Drive," claiming to offer "unlimited speed and permanent free 2TB space," directly challenging Baidu Cloud. Previously, Baidu Cloud had faced criticism from users regarding its speed limitations.
The strategy behind "Guangya Cloud Drive" is to tap into "unmet market demands" and target the "pain points" of competitors. However, there is an issue: the product's speed has not lived up to expectations. As of now, the iOS version of "Guangya Cloud Drive" has not been released, resulting in some wasted advertising resources during its marketing campaign.
Moreover, the "unlimited speed and permanent free" tactic may not be sustainable. Another cloud drive product previously adopted a similar approach, offering "unlimited speed + free" service, but after about a year, it introduced a paid membership model. Users are now skeptical of such tactics.
Furthermore, it is now 2026, and several years have passed since users complained about Baidu Cloud's speed limitations. Will users patiently wait for this issue to be resolved? Obviously not. Faced with cloud drive speed limitations, users either become paid members or switch to other products on the market. They are unlikely to wait for two or three years for the issue to be addressed.
If this marketing strategy were attractive two or three years ago, by 2026, users clearly have alternative solutions for personal data storage.
Why would Tencent launch Tencent Cloud Drive when it already has Tencent Weiyun? Based on available information, the core focus is on AI integration or the incorporation of AI products.
Baidu Cloud, 115 Cloud Drive, and Tencent Weiyun can be considered as cloud drive products from the 1.0 era, providing users with personal digital storage for videos, photos, documents, etc.
After 2020, various collaborative office software, such as WeChat Work, Feishu, DingTalk, WPS Office, and Huawei Cloud Meeting, emerged, breaking down the barriers between cloud drive products and office product data storage.
In 2021, the rise of AI products like ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, and xAI further propelled the entire technology and internet industry towards the AI field.
Compared to the past, when cloud drives primarily targeted the general user market, users' digital assets are now more complex, compounded by collaboration between multiple software applications. The connection between cloud drives and AI remains uncertain.
In the AI era, how should traditional software collaborate with AI? Major internet giants are attempting to address this practical issue. Previously, the first "Doubao Assistant" phone, a collaboration between Doubao and ZTE (the nubia M153), sparked much discussion. Tencent has also made numerous attempts to integrate WeChat with AI. Internet giants like Alibaba, NetEase, and Baidu are also trying to bridge traditional applications with AI. However, to date, none of them have successfully resolved the collaboration issue between original software and AI.

This attempt is also evident in Tencent Cloud Drive. When a giant like Tencent makes a move, it is certainly not a small endeavor. With 1.432 billion monthly active users on WeChat, if successful, Tencent can undoubtedly take a significant step forward.
Therefore, at this stage, it is clear that Tencent Cloud Drive has plans for personal, SaaS, VPC, and privatized editions. However, its ultimate success remains uncertain.
According to Guo Jing's Internet Circle observations, the Doubao product also includes cloud drive functionality.
From this perspective, it is likely that mainstream AI assistant products will launch or integrate cloud drive products.
This means that Baidu Cloud's current advantage is only temporary. It is uncertain how Tencent Cloud Drive and Doubao Cloud Drive will develop in the future. If they can achieve success in AI, traditional cloud drive products will inevitably be gradually phased out. If they lack distinct features or highlights, Baidu Cloud's position will remain very stable.
Another important consideration is the issue of payment. If users were previously averse to paying for cloud drives, now, with the entire internet industry promoting the "paid membership" model, users may become accustomed to paying for cloud drive products. Under the same payment conditions, will users choose Baidu Cloud, Tencent Cloud Drive, or Doubao Cloud Drive? This depends on the product's capabilities and user habits.
Since ChatGPT gained popularity in 2021, there has been ongoing discussion about "AI disrupting XXX" and "AI replacing XXX." Five years have passed, and it is hard to say whether AI has achieved such disruptive or replacement effects. AI can solve efficiency issues, but how to monetize AI seems to lack a reliable breakthrough. Instead, various sellers of AI courses have profited. Is this not ironic?
The cloud drive market has indeed not seen a significant disruptor for a long time. Will Tencent Cloud Drive become this disruptor? Or is the current user experience in the cloud drive market already sufficient, and users no longer need new, flashy products?
