Apple is gearing up to release its most powerful tablet yet.
On July 11, Bloomberg's tech reporter Mark Gurman revealed that the new iPad Pro could hit the market as soon as October, marking the debut of Apple's groundbreaking M5 chip in a smart device.
If the information holds true, this iPad Pro will undoubtedly become the most formidable tablet Apple has ever produced.

This revelation aligns with previous speculations that Apple would launch up to 18 new products in the second half of the year. Among these anticipated releases, the iPad Pro stands out alongside the highly awaited iPhone 17 series and the Apple Watch Series 11.
Considering the timeline, Apple last refreshed the iPad Pro series in May 2024, introducing the M4 chip and OLED display. If Apple sticks to its plan and unveils the new iPad Pro in October 2025, it will adhere closely to the release schedule and update rhythm of its predecessors, suggesting a strong possibility of an October launch.
Regarding the display, as the 2024 iPad Pro pioneered the adoption of OLED screens, transitioning from Mini LED technology, it's plausible to expect the 2025 model to maintain this advancement. Lei anticipates minimal changes, with the design and OLED screen likely continuing the 2024 model's approach.
On the chip front, Apple's progression has been steady: the M2 chip-powered iPad Pro debuted in October 2022, followed by the A14 chip-equipped iPad that same year. The next generation, equipped with the more potent M4 chip, was officially announced in May 2024. Notably, the iPad Pro skipped the M3 chip, jumping directly from M2 to M4.

The upcoming M5 chip, scheduled for release this year, leverages TSMC's optimized 3-nanometer process, offering significant enhancements in performance and energy efficiency. Furthermore, the M5 chip will be the first to employ TSMC's cutting-edge SoIC packaging process, the industry's first high-density 3D chiplet stacking technology, enabling direct stacking of chips.
This innovation positions the forthcoming iPad Pro to further solidify its dominance in high-performance mobile devices.
Separately, sources indicate that Apple also plans to equip the MacBook Pro with the M5 chip this year. However, this upgrade primarily constitutes a routine iteration of the processor, accompanied by minor updates.
In terms of display, a standout feature of the previous iPad Pro generation was the adoption of a dual-stacked OLED Retina XDR display, significantly enhancing screen brightness and color rendering.
Apple designers are currently exploring new display technologies aimed at further minimizing the iPad Pro's borders. However, it remains uncertain whether this technology will be integrated into M5 chip-equipped iPad Pro models.

Additionally, Apple intends to introduce a new generation of Studio Display external monitors, featuring a resolution of up to 7K and support for ProMotion adaptive refresh rate technology, addressing a market gap since 2022.
