Rice phones talk about sentiment, while Blue Factory offers better cost-effectiveness, and the mobile phone world has changed

In October, domestic mobile phones will launch high-end models along with Qualcomm's release of the new high-end Snapdragon 8G4 chip. However, the mid-range mobile phone market will also be quite lively. Many domestic mobile phone brands have already released or are preparing to release new mid-range models. Interestingly, Rice phones, which have always emphasized cost-effectiveness, have now lost their cost-effectiveness and seem more like they are talking about sentiment. On the other hand, Blue Factory vivo, which has been criticized for its expensive prices and relatively weak performance, has become increasingly cost-effective.

Rice phones were the first to release the note14Pro series, and even the higher-end note14Pro is equipped with the Dimensity 7350 chip. Although this chip is named as a new chip, it is essentially just a frequency-boosted version of the Dimensity 7200. This is a common practice of MediaTek in recent years, slightly increasing the clock speed of older chips and renaming them for re-release.

Previously, MediaTek's Dimensity 6020 and Dimensity 6080 chips were essentially rebranded versions of the three-year-old Dimensity 700 and Dimensity 810 chips, respectively. However, while the performance upgrades for the Dimensity 6020 and Dimensity 6080 were limited, the Dimensity 7350 offers a more significant performance boost. Nevertheless, the practice of renaming older chips has been criticized.

Domestic mobile phones released last year using the Dimensity 6020 and Dimensity 6080 chips were not well-received by consumers, resulting in low sales of domestic mid-range models. During this year's 618 shopping festival, all domestic mid-range models struggled, with none making it into the top 10 best-selling list. Instead, all the phones on the list were Snapdragon 8G2 models, indicating that consumers prefer to spend a few hundred yuan more on older Snapdragon 8G2 flagship phones rather than domestic mid-range models.

Rice phones have not learned from this lesson. The note series, a classic model that has achieved good sales in the past, now uses the Dimensity 7350 chip instead of even the Dimensity 8200. However, the starting price is set at 1999 yuan, which may be difficult for consumers to accept, especially when considering that the K70 is priced at just 2299 yuan and the K60 has fallen below 2000 yuan with significantly higher specifications.

In contrast to Rice phones, Blue Factory vivo is much more practical. It is reported that vivo will soon release the Z9 turbo, bringing many of its high-end X series technologies to the Z series. The Z9 turbo is particularly impressive, featuring the flagship Dimensity 9300 chip, outperforming its competitors in terms of chip performance.

The Dimensity 9300 is MediaTek's flagship chip, on par with the Snapdragon 8G3. By using the Dimensity 9300 in the Z series, vivo has demonstrated its commitment to delivering value to consumers and silencing critics who have claimed that vivo lacks cost-effectiveness. In terms of cost-effectiveness, vivo can easily outperform Rice phones.

Not only does the Z9 turbo outperform Rice phones' mid-range models, but it also rivals the K series, which is positioned as a mid-to-high-end offering from Rice phones. After all, the K series also uses the Snapdragon 8G2. It is clear that the Z9 turbo, equipped with the Dimensity 9300 chip, outperforms Rice phones' note and K series in terms of performance.

Data from the domestic mobile phone market also shows that the more practical vivo has gained recognition from most consumers. In the second quarter of this year, while there were disagreements among various analysis agencies regarding the shipment volumes of various mobile phone brands, there was no doubt about vivo's shipment volume. Almost all analysis agencies agreed that vivo was the top domestic mobile phone brand, demonstrating vivo's popularity. Vivo's recognition is undoubtedly linked to its practicality, which is quite ironic when compared to competitors who claim cost-effectiveness but no longer have this advantage.

Today's domestic consumers are becoming more practical when purchasing mobile phones. Regardless of how mobile phone companies promote their products, consumers will choose the ones that offer real value. vivo's position as the top-ranked brand proves that consumers highly recognize its practicality. It shows that mobile phones that rely solely on sentiment cannot deceive consumers, who are clear-headed when it comes to spending their money and know exactly which phones are worth buying.
