In recent days, the annual Double 11 event has started early, with various mobile phone manufacturers offering aggressive price cuts. On the Android side, to pave the way for new device launches and upcoming sales, many older models have been discounted. Apple is no exception, with official Double 11 price cuts also underway. In fact, during the early pre-sales stage of the iPhone 16 series, third-party platforms already offered significant discounts. However, due to some objective factors and the fact that they were not official channels, many people chose to wait, knowing that official price cuts would eventually come. As expected, they have now arrived.
Today, Apple's official flagship store announced that starting from 8 pm on October 21st, it will distribute unlimited 500 yuan coupons, which can be used for the entire iPhone 16 series. If customers trade in their old devices, they can also receive a subsidy of up to 1100 yuan. One advantage of the flagship store that other retailers cannot match is that it is directly operated by Apple, shares inventory with the Apple Store, and offers synchronized official after-sales service, ensuring genuine products without any concerns.
In addition to the flagship store, JD's self-operated store has also launched similar price cuts. Many people, seeing these guaranteed discounts, may feel tempted to seize the opportunity and make a purchase. However, Double 11 has just begun, and seasoned shoppers will likely hold off, knowing that discounts tend to increase as the event progresses. Personally, I recommend waiting another half-month, as it is widely believed that during this year's Double 11, the iPhone 16 series may see price drops of around 1000 yuan.
Of course, discounts on PDD may be even more significant. However, due to certain objective factors, some people prefer to buy from self-operated stores or flagship stores. In earlier years, Apple did not participate in 618 or Double 11 promotions, but in recent years, the rise in domestic mobile phone sales has put pressure on iPhone sales, leading Apple to no longer ignore events it previously declined to attend. Ultimately, increasing competition in the industry has forced Apple to adjust its product sales strategies.
I predict that after this year's Double 11, the iPhone 16 series will once again top sales charts across various platforms with a significant margin. This prediction is not baseless. Some media outlets have already released statistics showing that sales of the iPhone 16 series in the first three weeks in the Chinese market were 20% higher than those of the iPhone 15 series during the same period last year. Sales of the two Pro models even surged by 40%, and this was achieved without any price cuts. Now that official price cuts have begun, a surge in sales is foreseeable.
This reminds me of an online joke: iPhone may not win in online sales volume, but it never loses in actual sales. The more it is criticized, the better it sells. The iPhone 16 series perfectly exemplifies this. In the early stages after its release, various criticisms flooded the internet, and many people were skeptical about its sales prospects. However, the opposite turned out to be true, with more people ultimately choosing the iPhone.
