In the smartphone industry, while it's common for new devices to drop in price a while after their launch, they usually remain at their original price for a period during the initial release phase. This is to ensure profits and to address the psychological impact on early adopters. However, there are exceptions, such as unexpected subsidy campaigns that can disrupt consumers' purchasing patterns. The recent national subsidy program is one such example. The Xiaomi 15, featuring the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chip, was also included in this subsidy program, despite being launched just a month ago. As a top-tier flagship device, it typically wouldn't see a price drop so soon.
According to Xiaomi's official announcement, many tech products, including Xiaomi 15, are eligible for local subsidies, and the discounts are substantial, with some subsidies reaching up to 20% of the original price. For instance, after a 15% subsidy, the Xiaomi 15 can be purchased for 3824 yuan. Early adopters who paid full price may feel slighted, but this has nothing to do with Xiaomi's official pricing strategy.
Firstly, this subsidy program is not organized by Xiaomi. It's impractical for the company to drastically reduce the price of its top-tier flagship within such a short period. This subsidy is a local initiative, seemingly limited to Jiangsu province. It's unclear if similar activities will be launched in other provinces, but if this program proves successful, other provinces may follow suit.
Some might consider buying devices through this program and reselling them for a profit. However, it's important to note that electronics purchased through this program must be unboxed and activated on-site. Once activated, they become used devices, reducing their resale value significantly.
Moreover, records of the device's SN code, IMEI code, packaging SN code, receipt, and personal invoice are kept, essentially eliminating the possibility of reselling unopened boxes. For genuine users, however, this is an excellent opportunity to purchase. The subsidy program seems to have no limit on the number of participants within the specified timeframe. Besides Xiaomi phones, other smartphone brands can also be considered, although Xiaomi 15 is particularly notable.
Honestly, the next substantial subsidy of this magnitude might not come until next year's 618 shopping festival at the earliest. It's crucial to purchase products based on actual needs rather than just because of subsidies. Additionally, this program is exclusive to offline channels; online purchases are not eligible. Potential buyers should take note of this.
If any of you are from Jiangsu, are you interested in taking advantage of this offer?
