In fact, today is not only the official launch of the iPhone 16 series, but also Huawei's first tri-fold screen phone, the Mate XT. Both sides have many news trending on social media. As I mentioned before, the Mate XT will be delivered by Yu Chengdong in CCTV's live studio, which is quite a spectacle. In reality, everyone knows that the Mate XT cannot compete with the iPhone 16 series in terms of sales. The real battle with Apple will have to wait for the subsequent Mate 70 series. The biggest selling point of the Mate 70 series, undoubtedly, is Hongmeng OS NEXT. Today, in CCTV's live studio, although Yu Chengdong did not mention the Mate 70, he did reveal some news about Hongmeng OS.
Since Hongmeng OS is a distributed system, it is not only used on mobile phones but also in many electronic products. However, the devices that are more closely related to ordinary users seem to be mobile phones and PCs. In terms of mobile phones, the Mate 70 series is set to be the first to launch with Hongmeng OS. However, the progress of adapting Hongmeng OS to PCs has not been as fast as that of mobile phones. Fortunately, some of the words spoken by Yu Chengdong in CCTV's live studio today have given us a glimmer of hope.
Yu Chengdong said that due to some special reasons, the existing Huawei PCs may be the last batch of Huawei PCs equipped with the Windows system. This clearly indicates that Huawei's future PCs will not run on the Windows system. However, upon closer analysis, there may be several implications here:
1. The existing Huawei PCs that have already been produced and equipped with the Windows system will not be affected, but new Huawei PCs produced in the future will not be able to use Windows and will be equipped with the Hongmeng PC version system from the factory.
2. After a certain period of time, all Huawei PC products will lose their access to the Windows system, and they must all be upgraded to the Hongmeng system to function normally.
Since Yu Chengdong has already spoken about it, it must be true. From what Yu Chengdong said, it is clear that the first possibility is more likely. Otherwise, there would not be the statement that "existing Windows PCs will cease to be supplied." Huawei can naturally solve the hardware issues, and the implication here is software, meaning that existing Huawei Windows PCs will become collector's items.
In fact, Huawei should have been well-prepared in this regard. Personally, I even think that Huawei should have already started developing the Hongmeng PC version since the first version of Hongmeng OS was released. Previously, Huawei executives also mentioned in response to netizen questions that there would definitely be a Hongmeng PC this year. Coupled with Yu Chengdong's statement in CCTV's live studio that "Hongmeng PC will be used in the future," we have reason to believe that Huawei is ready for PC system applications and is just waiting for the right time to release and actually use them.
In fact, the most difficult aspect of a system is its ecosystem, or simply put, whether there are enough apps available for use. On mobile phones, Huawei has already proven with Hongmeng OS NEXT that there are no issues. However, there is not much news about the PC ecosystem yet, which has naturally led to more speculation. PC software is much more complex than mobile phone software, making it more difficult for Huawei to integrate. This includes the difficulty of adaptation and the willingness of developers to enter the platform. Many Huawei PC device users have expressed their willingness to try out Hongmeng PC once it is launched.
If any of you here are Huawei PC users, what are your thoughts? If you are currently using the Windows system, would you be willing to update to the Hongmeng system in the future?
