Double Eleven has passed for several days. As the last shopping festival of the year, its influence is naturally huge. Some mobile phone companies claimed to have won the sales championship during Double Eleven, but recently an analyst firm released data indicating that Apple is the true champion, ranking first in both sales volume and sales revenue.
Market research firm TechInsights pointed out that Apple ranked first in mobile phone sales during this year's Double Eleven, with a domestic mobile phone brand coming in second, both sharing approximately 21% of the market share, though Apple slightly edged out the competition.
In terms of sales revenue, Apple is far ahead, multiple times that of the second-place brand. Apple has always ranked first in sales revenue, as the average price of iPhones is several times that of domestic mobile phones. Moreover, with Apple's sales volume now surpassing that of domestic brands, its sales revenue lead can be described as overwhelming.
The Double Eleven best-selling mobile phones list shows that iPhones occupy the top two spots, with a domestic mobile phone brand coming in third and another iPhone model taking fourth place. It is evident that Apple's iPhones have an unmatched sales momentum during Double Eleven compared to many competitors.
Faced with this reality, some domestic mobile phone brands nevertheless claim to have surpassed Apple in sales volume, which only adds to the humor. Now that analyst firms have released data, it undoubtedly exposes the lies of these mobile phone companies, revealing that overtaking Apple is still premature.
Apple's success as the winner of Double Eleven is attributed to both its own efforts and the support of e-commerce platforms. Although Apple's iPhone 16 continues to be criticized for lacking innovation, Apple showed sincerity this year by equipping the entire series with the A18 processor, increasing memory capacity, and maintaining the starting price, essentially offering more without raising prices.
Due to Apple's influence in the high-end market, e-commerce platforms have proactively provided subsidies for the iPhone 16. Since its launch, multiple e-commerce platforms have offered discounts of 500-600 yuan, which Apple does not need to bear, thus happily driving iPhone 16 sales.
Apple's primary profit source is its services business, not hardware such as iPhones or iPads. It is reported that the services business contributes nearly half of Apple's profits. The development of the services business requires the iPhone ecosystem to attract more users. In such a scenario, Apple is naturally happy to see e-commerce platforms proactively offering discounts to boost iPhone 16 sales.
In contrast, domestic mobile phones have generally increased prices for their high-end models this year. On the one hand, Qualcomm and MediaTek, which provide chips, have significantly raised prices. Mobile phone chips account for nearly one-third of the cost of mobile phones, and the cost increase is unbearable for mobile phone companies, leading to price hikes.
On the other hand, domestic mobile phone companies are trying to obtain more profits. In the early years, domestic high-end mobile phones were priced at 1999 yuan, which increased to 3999 yuan last year and has now further risen to 4499 yuan, nearly doubling. Blaming this solely on the increase in chip costs is unconvincing. It can only be said that domestic mobile phone companies believe they have gained more market share and are attempting to reap profits from consumers.
Domestic high-end mobile phones have seen significant price increases, while mid-range models have undergone severe feature cuts. Since last year, domestic mid-range mobile phones have adopted outdated chip modifications, essentially new bottles with old wine, causing dissatisfaction among domestic consumers. Nowadays, consumers are reluctant to purchase domestic mid-range mobile phones and prefer older high-end models. When choosing high-end mobile phones, they abandon domestic brands in favor of spending a bit more for an iPhone.
Mobile phone sales figures are not determined solely by what domestic mobile phone companies claim. Data from various analyst firms provide more reliable references. The data from these firms indicates that Apple is the dual champion, undoubtedly exposing the lies of domestic mobile phone companies and tearing off their so-called veil of being number one, making them look even worse.
