BYD's brand name stands for "Build Your Dreams," implying the fulfillment of aspirations.
Judging from BYD's current development momentum, it has already achieved this goal. Recently, Xinhua News Agency, China Brand Building Promotion Council, China Appraisal Society, and other organizations jointly released the "2024 China Brand Value Evaluation Information," in which BYD ranked first in the automotive and parts industry with a brand value of 105.186 billion yuan.
With a total sales volume of 3,024,417 vehicles in 2023, ranking ninth among the top ten global automakers, BYD has now become an undisputed global automotive giant.
In 2023, BYD's total sales exceeded 3 million vehicles, and its overseas sales of new energy passenger cars exceeded 240,000, representing a year-on-year growth of 337%, making it the Chinese brand with the most new energy vehicle exports. As of April 2024, overseas sales reached 41,000 vehicles, representing a year-on-year growth of 176.6%. Exports cover 83 countries and regions such as Japan, Australia, Brazil, Mexico, Germany, and the United Arab Emirates, becoming a "new business card" for Chinese manufacturing.
Currently, the major powers and competitors in the new energy vehicle industry are China and the United States, while the European market serves as a barometer reflecting the development process of new energy in both countries. In the European market, BYD has over 250 stores. France alone has 23 stores and is expected to reach 80 in 2024. In May 2024, French Finance Minister Bruno Le Maire publicly stated that France would warmly welcome Chinese electric vehicle giant BYD if it decides to set up a factory in France. In Bruno Le Maire's eyes, BYD remains an international giant.
At the "2024 China Automotive Chongqing Forum (CACS2024)" held from June 6 to 8, Zhang Xinghai, Chairman (Founder) of Seres Group, stated in his speech that BYD has become the global leader in the new energy vehicle field. After BYD released the BYD Qin L DM-i, which boasts a fuel consumption of 2.9L/100KM and a maximum range of 2300KM, BYD solidified its status as an international giant.
Following the release of the BYD Qin L DM-i, BYD experienced a surge in sales and also successfully gained the confidence of the capital market. Since the launch of the BYD Qin L DM-i, BYD's share price has risen from 207.38 yuan to 247 yuan on June 12, representing a growth of approximately 20%. Since June, multiple institutions have rated BYD as "buy" or increased their holdings. Guohai Securities stated in its research report that "it is expected that BYD will achieve business income of 785.9 billion, 916.5 billion, and 1037.2 billion yuan in 2024-2026, with year-on-year growth rates of 30%, 17%, and 13%, respectively; achieving net profit attributable to shareholders of 37.01 billion, 47.07 billion, and 58.68 billion yuan, with year-on-year growth rates of 23%, 27%, and 25%, respectively." BYD is expected to become the first domestic automaker with revenue exceeding one trillion yuan.
Since its establishment in 1995, BYD's slogan has always been "Build Your Dreams," fulfilling your aspirations, which is also the origin of the acronym "BYD." After 30 years of development, BYD has finally achieved its dream of becoming a global automotive giant. What impact has BYD's strong rise had on China's new energy vehicle industry?
