Yesterday, ZEEKR announced its record-breaking December sales figure of 27,190 vehicles, marking a new milestone for the brand.

This achievement not only represents a new high for ZEEKR but also surpasses the previous monthly sales record held by NIO among luxury electric vehicle (EV) brands in China, which peaked at just over 20,000 units.

Despite the challenges faced by luxury EVs in the market, excluding Tesla, ZEEKR has emerged as the leading domestic brand, showcasing its robust system capabilities.

As other domestic luxury new energy vehicle brands have achieved market breakthroughs with their plug-in hybrid offerings, one might wonder about ZEEKR's future plans in this segment. Given its current system strength, ZEEKR's potential in this area is undoubtedly exciting.

For the full year of 2022, ZEEKR's cumulative sales reached 222,123 vehicles, overtaking NIO to become the annual sales champion among luxury EV brands in China. This shift in rankings is quite intriguing.

While Tesla dominates the luxury EV market, suggesting that charging is the predominant mode in this segment, domestic luxury EVs have faced significant challenges. Even Li Xiang has acknowledged the difficulties within the luxury EV space.

Despite these hurdles, NIO has made a breakthrough with its battery swapping technology. Li Bin has stated that battery swapping has become NIO's competitive advantage, gaining significant industry support.

This "conflict" has sparked considerable debate within the industry: In the luxury EV market, is charging or battery swapping the mainstream? Does this mean that domestic luxury EVs have no future beyond battery swapping?

ZEEKR's sales surpassing NIO last year to become the annual sales champion among luxury EV brands in China carries another layer of significance. It demonstrates that, within the luxury EV market, charging remains the dominant mode.

This year, Lixiang Auto aims to further penetrate the luxury EV market, now more confident with its deployment of 1,727 supercharging stations.

Current data indicates that in the luxury EV market, the focus should remain on the charging route. More specifically, the path of self-built stations with supercharging capabilities can offer luxury users a superior and differentiated experience.
