On October 20th, Entropy Simple Technology (AlphaEngine), an AI-driven financial firm, revealed that it had successfully closed its Series C funding round. This round was spearheaded by Ant Group, with additional investments from Orient National Information Technology and Qiaobei Capital.
Post-funding, Ant Group is set to engage in in-depth collaboration with Entropy Simple Technology in two primary domains: the creation of AI financial agents and the cultivation of AI financial vertical domain models.
Strategic business moves were made prior to the formal announcement.
Based on Tianyancha's records, on August 3rd, Shanghai Yundi, a wholly-owned entity of Ant Group, secured a 2.5176% stake in Entropy Simple Technology. Concurrently, Orient National Information Technology joined the roster of shareholders, while Xiaomi's subsidiary, Tianjin Jinmi, fully divested on July 31st.
The announcement of the Series C funding signifies the official commencement of the cooperation terms between the two parties, following the equity adjustments.
Entropy Simple Technology was established in 2017 by Fei Binjie, an alumnus of Tsinghua University with a bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering and a master's degree from the PBC School of Finance. Prior to founding his own company, he served as a TMT analyst at Harvest Fund for three years.
During its initial four years, the company constructed investment research data centers for top-tier asset management institutions. In 2022, it pivoted towards the standardized product AlphaEngine. In March 2026, it introduced the financial investment research agent "AlphaClaw" and rolled out the institutional version in September, utilizing a local-first architecture where investment research data and user strategies are processed locally, ensuring data privacy by avoiding cloud uploads.
To date, AlphaEngine has reached over 9,000 institutions, encompassing more than 100,000 institutional investors, including public funds, securities research institutes, insurance asset management companies, and bank wealth management subsidiaries, achieving comprehensive coverage across all customer segments.
Alterations in the shareholder composition mirror shifts in strategic focus.
During Xiaomi's leadership in the Series A funding in 2018, Entropy Simple Technology concentrated on data middleware and the informatization of investment research. When GaoRong Capital participated in the Series B funding in 2019, the products predominantly revolved around data aggregation.
Ant Group's involvement at this juncture underscores its interest in the synergistic potential between agent products like AlphaClaw and financial vertical domain models. Ant Group boasts financial scenario capabilities and foundational model prowess, whereas Entropy Simple Technology possesses investment research vertical domain data and access to institutional clients. Each entity complements the other's deficiencies.
Post-Series C funding, the query Entropy Simple Technology must address has evolved from "Can we transform data into a viable product?" to "What is the willingness of institutional clients to pay for agents?"
The 9,000 institutions and 100,000 users signify channel scale; however, the institutional version of AlphaClaw was only launched in September 2026, and data on payment depth or renewal rates remains undisclosed.
Ant Group's alliance intertwines vertical domain model training with agent development. Should this trajectory prove fruitful, Entropy Simple Technology's role will transition from an investment research tool provider to a financial agent platform, consequently modifying its valuation rationale.
Conversely, if institutional clients' adoption of agents remains in the trial phase, the revenue trajectory post-Series C funding will face greater challenges in maintaining momentum than the funding narrative implies.
