Summarizing this strategic move in a nutshell: FAW-Audi will persist with the iconic four-ring emblem, maintaining its current lineup of both traditional fuel and new energy vehicles. Meanwhile, SAIC Audi will exclusively represent the letter-logo AUDI brand, with a laser focus on the new energy vehicle market.

Regarding the future of SAIC Audi's existing four models bearing the four-ring logo—A5L Sportback, A7L, Q5 e-tron, and Q6—Audi China clarified that SAIC Audi is authorized to continue selling these models seamlessly until the end of 2027, with uninterrupted after-sales services. As for whether classic models like the A5 and A7L will transition to FAW-Audi for production and sales by 2028, Audi China remains tight-lipped for now.

From Dianchetong's vantage point (ID: dianchetong233), Audi's recalibration of FAW-Audi and SAIC Audi's product lines is both timely and astute.

At this juncture, SAIC Audi's development trajectory is centered around the AUDI brand. Juggling both brands simultaneously would impose considerable strain on SAIC Audi, potentially leading to a scenario where '1+1<2,' ultimately hampering its growth trajectory.

Moreover, the Audi brand has a longstanding partnership with FAW in the Chinese market, and FAW-Audi's brand equity runs deep among consumers. Hence, despite SAIC Audi's possession of notable models like the A7L and A5L Sportback, its consumer influence pales in comparison to FAW-Audi.

Therefore, by exclusively retaining the AUDI brand and entrusting the four-ring brand operations solely to FAW-Audi, SAIC Audi can not only mitigate internal friction between the northern and southern Audi entities but also consolidate the four-ring brand's presence under FAW-Audi. This strategic move prevents the dilution of the four-ring brand's overall impact and influence due to model dispersion across two entities.

For the AUDI brand, this strategic adjustment heralds fresh development prospects. Previously, the AUDI brand has faced criticism from the public, being labeled as a 'second-tier brand' or 'non-purebred Audi.' It is anticipated that with SAIC Audi solely operating the AUDI brand, both joint venture partners will amplify their focus and emphasis on the AUDI brand, fostering greater consumer understanding of the AUDI brand, propelling sustained growth in AUDI's sales, and expediting Audi's overall electrification and intelligent transformation journey in China.

From the consolidation of Mazda's northern and southern entities to the strategic collaboration between Toyota's northern and southern branches, and now to the clear delineation of roles between Audi's northern and southern operations, adjustments among joint venture brands are ongoing. So, who will be the next to follow suit?
