Ofilm's Patent for Eight-Lens Variable Aperture Granted!

Recently, the invention patent for an 'optical system, camera module, and electronic device,' independently developed by Jiangxi Ofilm Optics Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of Ofilm Group, was officially authorized by the National Intellectual Property Administration.

This patent addresses the core contradiction of variable aperture systems—maintaining both miniaturization and high imaging quality under variable aperture conditions—through a precision eight-lens optical architecture. It provides an optical solution for consumer electronics imaging modules that does not rely on additional structural stacking.

According to the patent, the optical system is configured with eight lenses having refractive power along the optical axis, arranged sequentially from the object side to the image side. The first, third, fifth, and seventh lenses have positive refractive power, while the second, fourth, and eighth lenses have negative refractive power. The object-side surfaces of the first, second, third, fifth, sixth, and seventh lenses, as well as the image-side surfaces of multiple lenses, are subject to specific convex-concave surface constraints.

This systematic design directly targets the longstanding trade-off between 'functional realization' and 'module slimness' in traditional variable aperture solutions: additional structural components tend to increase lens protrusion, conflicting with the trend toward thinner terminal devices. By coordinating refractive power and surface configurations, this patent embeds the optical path requirements of variable aperture within the eight-lens architecture, enabling compatibility between imaging stability across different aperture settings and module miniaturization within a single optical system.
